  • Peak District touring pitches at a farm in the village of Wetton
  • Walk from site to Thor's Cave; Alton Towers 20 minutes' drive
  • A short walk from the village pub and tea room, plus walking trails
If the key components of your break in the Peak District National Park are a) easy access to walks, and b) easy access to a good post-walk pint, then you’ll probably be most pleased with the location of Yew Tree Farm Touring. This Derbyshire touring site is on the edge of the village of Wetton, opposite the village car park, which functions as the start point for several walking routes. That means that once you’ve parked your van, you can simply set out on foot to get to Thor’s Cave, meander along the Manifold Way or find various other ways to soak up some of the scenery. If you don’t mind a little bit of a drive, the likes of Dovedale and the Heights of Abraham can be on the schedule too. Wherever you end up (even if it’s Alton Towers, which is also nearby), you’ll be able to finish the day with a well-earned drink at the local pub, which is just a couple of minutes’ walk from the site. The village also has a tea room that’s open at weekends if a piece of cake and a cuppa is more your style. The site opens up its on-site refreshment trailer during summer weekends (from 10am to 5pm) to sell locally sourced Jersey ice cream, drinks and hot drinks. For dinner, you may want to bring along a barbecue and load it up with supplies from shops in Ashbourne (20 minutes’ drive) instead. Touring pitches are set up in a five-acre field, so there’s plenty of space for everyone to spread out and have a bit of peace. There's a shower and toilet block on site, with outdoor washing-up facilities and a hot-water dog wash, as well as a chemical toilet disposal point.

What customers say

This well-kept, quiet campground offers generous sites and great value. It has a prime location with direct access to many walking trails, including Thor's Cave and the Manifold Valley. Facilities, including restrooms and showers, are praised for cleanliness and modernity. On-site food and a nearby pub add convenience. Despite some finding the access roads narrow, the overall experience is highly positive, with many recommending it and planning a return visit.

Primitive grass travel trailer campsite

Liked It is just as per their advert. Close to great walks and close to a lovey village pub.
No frills, no extras just great location.
Two toilets and two showers for men’s and same for ladies would be enough for campers but due to its location next to walks and cafe everyone seems to be allowed to use it at weekends.

Disliked Toilets ran out of paper a couple of times and were hard to keep very clean just because so many ‘non campers’ were allowed to use them rather than the public loos in the car park.

Liked The site was great

Disliked Could do with a few more toilets for the amount of people on site.
Urinals for the gents would also help.

Liked The area we pitched was well maintained and had suitable running water table nearby.

The facilities were kept in immaculate condition and were of good quality.

The local pub was only a short walk and the thors cave walk also within a short distance.

All in all a great stay for our first camping trip!
