You might reckon from the name that this is a site for sporty sorts only. But oh how wrong you'd be. While Veneto's Camping Sporting Center does have many an active option available – tennis, football, volleyball and boules in the pétanque court are all on offer – this is a site that's also firmly in favour of pursuing the worthy art of leisure. For first, there's a wellness centre on site where you can book a massage or other happily relaxing treatment from its long long spa list, as well as an Olympic-sized thermal springwater pool with a hot tub and a paddling pool for small relaxers; if you need a tad more tension lifted, both pools are surrounded by a sun terrace with sun loungers. There's also a barbecue area for free use and a restaurant where you can settle down to tasty pizzas and traditional local dishes, also most relaxing… And, as canines should be chilled out on holiday too, you'll be chuffed to hear that Camping Sporting Center welcomes dog guests too.

Local attractions

Once you've unpeeled yourself from the massage table, get out to see what the Venetian region has to offer: Camping Sporting Center is relaxedly placed to get to its best. The site is in Colli Euganei or the Euganean Hills, the first national park designated in the Veneto region and an area filed with hikes and bike rides. And eating, but of course: ramble or pedal your way around the region's many agriturismi, the small family-run restaurants dishing up proper-size portions of homemade food at proper prices. Venice is easily accessible by train from here (in about an hour and five minutes) and a bit of a must to see its famed canal, St Mark's Square, the Rialto Bridge (and a few thousand other bridges…), the Accademia Art Museum and the Peggy Guggenheim Collection. Also recommended are Padua, known for its Old Town and for the Scrovegni Chapel with its world-famed 14th-century fresco cycle by Giotto; and cruising along the Riviera del Brenta, with its swish Italian villas and lush adjoining gardens.
