  • Family-friendly site in a rural spot three miles from Frome
  • A 15-minute drive from Longleat House and Longleat Safari Park
  • Firepits and games room on site
Set on a Somerset break? It's a crafty move to grab a spot at The Den and Orchard, a family-friendly site on the edge of Cranborne Chase Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It just so happens that there are plenty of walks nearby, as well as other days out in the local area including fishing, mountain biking, visits to National Trust properties and the excellent Longleat Safari Park. Firepits are positioned on every pitch for a laidback evening of cooking and flame gazing. The appointed chef can acquire essentials at the supermarkets in Frome, three miles away. If you'd rather let someone else do the honours, it's possible to order local food delivery from your phone or take a short five-minute drive to local food outlets. Facilities on site include a washing-up area and a wooden toilet block with gents’ and ladies’ toilets and showers. A games room (with darts, table football and table tennis) is on hand too, for damp evenings and general entertainment. Being just under half a mile from an A road, you may hear some road noise at rush hour or if the wind is blowing in the site's direction. Just outside of Frome, it's a bit noisier here than at a fully rural site, but it's very handy for getting around and also for ordering from takeaways in Frome or quickly picking up supplies in town.

Power optional grass and gravel motorhome site

Liked The pitches were beautiful lots of bird life around and the play area and the games room were great for my 7 year old son.

The facilities were clean and so so warm, the shower in the womens had good water pressure.

There is lots in the local area there is a sainsburys, the range, Greg's, KFC and McDonald's less than 5 minutes away.

Disliked I did find the site quite noisy there is a lot of noise that comes from the A road very close by. It does die down after 'rush hours' and Saturday morning was also quiet.

Power optional grass and gravel motorhome site

Liked The Campsite location felt like a hidden gem—peaceful and tucked away, yet conveniently close to a local town with all the amenities. It’s also just a short drive to Longleat Safari.

Each pitch was beautifully presented, had its own grassy area complete with a picnic bench.

The site also features a games rooms.

Overall, the facilities were exceptionally clean and very well maintained.

Power optional grass and gravel motorhome site

Liked Location - easy to find, good to visit Bath and Frome but no easy public transport available (40 min walk to Sainsburys nearest stop)
Great pub ( Masons Arms) within walking distance.

Disliked Pitch too small-had marked van size but pitch allocated was too small.
On arrival pitch allocated was too short for our 6.36m van.It was barely long enough for our friends in their 5.5m van.Fortunately there were 2 larger spaces on the other side of the site that were large enough.
Very narrow to drive/reverse onto pitch-tried v hard not to drive across grass but narrow & had to drive onto an occupied pitch to make the manouevre.
No one on site to speak to.
Toilet door Top block was not opening on several 'visits'.
Heater in family bathroom ( far left) not working despite numbers clicking over it did not come on.
Hot water not working in top block Easter Monday.
Generally shower/toilet provision seemed inadequate relative to number of pitches & visitors.
Club Room not open Easter.
£6 daily on top of booking fee is excessive for EHU.

Power optional grass and gravel motorhome site

Liked Loved that the site was small and family run, the facilities with really clean, and also WARM! The shower has great pressure too. WiFi was great, site was very safe for children as only one way in and out and you can see the park no matter where you are. Fire pits and bbqs available to use just help yourself which is fab, just remember your wood and coal! Games room was ok for some light entertainment.

Disliked Only problem we had was one cubicle in the women’s toilet, if you pull instead of push it gets stuck so unable to open the door and no lighting outside in the night so remember a torch/light.

Apple Blossom lodge

Liked Lovely size inside, was really surprised by how big it was inside. This could easily sleep 7 people as you have the two bunks sleeping 2, the double bed sleeping 2, the sofa bed which can sleep 2 and the single fold down bed sleeping 1.

Surprised that there was a microwave, plates, cups, cutlery, tea and coffee so the facilities you get are fab!
The toilets were always lovely and clean and the site was always kept clean and tidy. No trouble on site and no loud noises which was also a bonus.

Disliked Lack of cleaning facilities, this is just a personal preference however a cordless vacuum and a spray mop would be a fantastic addition and make it so simply to clean up. We are a family with 3 young kids and 2 dogs and sweeping the floor 4 times a day is a pain when it would be easier with a cordless vaccum and a spray mop. Maybe some surface spray and a cloth too for the tables and a couple more bin bags rather than the 1.
However this is pure personal preference and not a reflection in the overall cleanliness and we arrived to a lovely clean pod and left it as clean as we possibly could

Power optional grass and gravel motorhome site

Liked Lovely well kept site. We went out of season and was very quiet. Small site, with everything you need on it. Very clean and warm toilet/shower block. We loved that we could have a firepit on our pitch. The park and games room was a real hit for our kids, aged 7&9. Felt safe and secure. Lots of bird song. Would 100% recommend. Thanks for having us.
