  • Well-maintained Norfolk site one mile from the Sandringham Estate
  • Within 10 minutes' drive of Hunstanton and Heacham beaches
  • Bar, adventure playground, dog-walking area and bicycle hire
Have you ever been to the Norfolk coast? Come and stay at Pine Cones Caravan and Camping, a mile from Sandringham Estate and a 10-minute drive from the beaches in Heacham and Hunstanton. At this well-maintained site, the staff aim to go out of their way to make sure that everyone's comfortable. There's something for everyone; kids tend to love the open space – teams can often be seen laughing over a game of football or other games – and spending hours on the play equipment. Meanwhile, all ages can unwind at the all-weather bar and terrace at Bens Bar, which is open at peak times for snacks, draught beer and other delicious drinks; live sports are also shown here. Dogs (up to two per booking) are very welcome and even get access to their own dedicated off-lead walking area and warm dog wash. Other on-site facilities include luxury individual bathrooms (each with a toilet, sink and shower), electric vehicle charging points and gas bottle sales. Takeaway food is served on site during peak times. At other times, simply stroll along to the two dog-friendly village pubs within walking distance. There are plenty of excellent walks and cycling paths from the site, with the Sandringham Visitor Centre only 20 minutes' walk away; hire a bicycle on site to get around quicker. Bus stops are nearby in Dersingham.

What customers say

A tidy campsite with lovely staff. Guests rave about the excellent, clean, warm private showers (often with piped music!). Spacious pitches, some with picnic spots. Ben's Bar and takeaway a hit. Peaceful, though occasional road noise noted. Dog-friendly with great local walks, highly recommended.

Pine Views camping pod

Liked Lovely, friendly campsite. We stayed in a pod and it was spacious, well maintained and provided us with the break we needed.

Nothing was to much to ask, staff went above and beyond and the glowing shower head was the biggest hit with our kids.

Sandy Acres powered grass and sand site (small)

Liked Nice toilets and shower rooms

Disliked Next to noisey road, not much woody areas as hoping for , shop shut early to which was very small, bike hire?? Don’t look like the bikes been used in a while, shame the pitches were either side off the track road and no noice from 9.45 pm where a man come round and checked to ,

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. We are pleased that you liked our private shower and toilet facilities.

However, I must say I am rather astonished by the number of inaccurate statements and assumptions made within your review.

Firstly, our quiet policy is one of the aspects of the campsite that receives the most positive feedback from guests, and it is something many people specifically choose Pinecones for. For accuracy, our policy is low noise from 9:15 pm, meaning quiet conversation is welcome but no music or loud noise, followed by no noise from 10:45 pm, meaning no noise should be audible outside your accommodation. Our wardens patrol the site to ensure these standards are maintained, and this is generally regarded as a positive feature by our guests.

Regarding the cycle hire, our bikes are serviced regularly. They are ex-city hire bicycles, chosen because they are robust and reliable for the local area. In fact, we have hired out four bikes today alone, so the suggestion that they are unused is simply incorrect.

With regard to the road noise, our address is Pinecones Caravan & Camping, A149 Bypass, Dersingham, Norfolk, so our location adjacent to the bypass is made clear before booking. Whilst some road noise can occasionally be heard, many guests find it far less noticeable than they had expected.

You also mention the roadway. Our internal roads are constructed from granite stone, providing safe, all-weather access to every pitch. Without a suitable roadway, vehicles simply would not be able to reach their pitches safely.

Finally, our shop is open daily from 9:30 am until 3:00 pm, with extended opening until 5:00 pm on Fridays and Saturdays. For anything outside those hours, there is also a large Co-op supermarket approximately a 10-minute walk from the campsite.

We always welcome genuine, constructive feedback, but we also believe it is important that reviews accurately reflect the facilities and information provided to guests.

Pine Views fully-serviced concrete and grass caravan site

Liked a beautifully set up camping experience. We particularly liked the defined boundaries of each pitch. Sometimes other sites are not as defined and this can cause issue. We also rate a site on its bathroom facilities. It was great to have all necessary amenities in the one room, making it easier. . We didn’t use the bar or cafe facilities but they appeared to be well used and welcoming looking in from the outside.

Disliked One thought would be to consider the gravel road, particularly on a bend where we were pitched. Banking of the gravel makes for an amplified ‘crunch’ even at 5mph as vehicles round the bend

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your fantastic 10/10 review. We're delighted to hear you enjoyed your stay and appreciated the way our pitches are clearly defined. We know having well-spaced, clearly marked boundaries helps everyone enjoy their own space, so it's great to hear this stood out to you.

We're also pleased that you rated our private bathroom facilities so highly. Having the toilet, shower and wash basin all within one individual room is something many of our guests really value, and we're glad it made your stay more convenient.

Thank you as well for your constructive feedback regarding the gravel roadway. We'll certainly take a look at the section you mentioned, as we appreciate that gravel can naturally build up on bends over time. We regularly grade and maintain the roadways, and your comments will help us identify if any additional attention is needed.

We hope you'll have the opportunity to try Ben's Bar and café on your next visit, and we look forward to welcoming you back to Pinecones again soon.

Liked Very clean and tidy nice staff friendly

Disliked The overall site was not scooter friendly did not say when booked .should disclose 5his as wife really struggled to get around

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. We're pleased to hear that you found the site clean and tidy and that our team were friendly and welcoming.

As the site manager, I did have the opportunity to speak with your wife whilst she was in reception during your stay. It was evident that the mobility scooter being used was a very lightweight model, more suited to smooth surfaces such as shopping centres and town pavements than to outdoor campsite roadways.

We completely understand that transporting a larger, wider-wheeled scooter may not always be practical. However, for future visits we would recommend hiring a more suitable all-terrain mobility scooter from one of the local hire companies, as these are much better suited to granite roadways and uneven outdoor surfaces.

Whilst we do not specifically describe the composition of our roadways within the booking information, the photographs on the website clearly show that the site roads are finished with granite stone, which is a common and practical surface for campsites.

Thank you again for your feedback. We appreciate your comments and hope this explanation is helpful for future visits, whether to Pinecones or other campsites with similar roadway surfaces.

Pine Views fully-serviced concrete and grass caravan site (small)

Liked Great for a quiet break, location perfect for a number of beaches. Staff lovely, onsite bar, great dog walks.

Disliked Queuing for the shower/toilet facilities, lovely to have private bathrooms, but could do with a few “just toilets” especially in peak season

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you so much for your fantastic 10/10 review. We're delighted to hear you enjoyed your stay, especially Ben's Bar and our private shower and toilet facilities. It's great to know you found them convenient and well located for all of the pitches.

We do agree that the site has been dustier than we would like this summer. Unfortunately, we've experienced the driest summer on record since records began, and the prolonged lack of rainfall has left the ground exceptionally hard and much drier than normal. This has also made pitching more challenging, and we would certainly recommend stronger pegs for these conditions.

We appreciate your understanding and your balanced feedback despite the unusual weather conditions. Thank you again for your kind review, and we look forward to welcoming you back to Pinecones soon—hopefully with a little more rain before your next visit

Sandy Acres powered grass and sand site (small)

Liked We loved the site, everyone was friendly, it was easy to find, bathrooms brilliant and everything we needed on site.

Disliked Sadly, our tent pitch was obviously an old camper pitch as it was covered in gravel. Which has put a small hole in a couple of places in our groundsheet of a brand new tent.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your review. Some of the tent pitches do have very small gravel on them to reduce wear. We have not experienced this problem but we will take a look at the area.

Local attractions

Beaches, historic houses, museums and festivals, tiny villages, market towns and fab family days out are all easily accessible from Pine Cones Caravan and Camping. Within a couple of miles, the deer safaris, farming activities and walking trails of Snettisham Deer Park and the sights and smells of Norfolk Lavender are both good options for a day out; Snettisham has an RSPB reserve too for those itching to twitch. But as you're probably in west/north Norfolk for the beaches, head to Heacham, Holkham and Hunstanton first, the closest sands to Pine Cones, and then take a trip to Brancaster, 11 miles away; the family-friendly and very scenic sands of Sheringham, Cromer and Mundsley are a little further along the coast. (Also, the final scenes of Shakespeare in Love were filmed at Holkham, and all the beaches in these parts are fairly filmworthy, so bring your camera.) Other excellent options for days out include village hopping and shopping among the scenic sights of Dersingham, Holt, Fakenham, Aylsham and Burnham Market to pick up some local produce, or going along to one of Norfolk's festivals or events: there's usually something going on throughout the year. Pine Cones is also on the edge of the Norfolk Coast National Landscape – bring walking boots, crabbing nets and plenty of room for picnics.
