  • Holiday park a short stroll from the sandy surfing beach Croyde Bay
  • Surfboards and wetsuits for hire; surfing lessons available
  • Tropical indoor pool, indoor/outdoor play, beach café and kids' club
Sick of being rudely awakened by your alarm clock? Try a Ruda wakening instead: after a blissfully peaceful lie-in, take a gulp of fresh, clean air and stroll a few steps down to the golden sands and sparkling waves… Ruda Holiday Park sits right alongside the sweeping sandy surfing beach of Croyde Bay on Devon’s Gold Coast. Croyde is a popular destination for surfers, and it’d be rude not to have a go while you’re here. Guests can hire a variety of boards, wetsuits and other kit from Ruda Holiday Park’s dedicated surf shop, and instructors from the renowned Surf South West school are on hand if you want lessons. If the weather isn't playing nice, head for Ruda’s tropical indoor pool complex, where there are water rapids and underwater geysers, waterfalls, hydrojets and one humongous slide. This site is great for kids of all ages, with the children's club, adventure playground, indoor soft play area, tennis court and activities like 'tots and tunes' or character dining (this last one's during high season only). There's also a good choice of on-site food options, including a beach café and an ice-cream parlour, plus a sprightly schedule of evening entertainment, and comprehensive essential amenities.

What customers say

A great spot, a stroll from the beach, with lovely staff. Facilities are mostly clean, though a bit old. Plenty to do for families. A few grumbles about noise and loos, but most want to come back.

Taw electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch (no pets)

Liked Brilliant views and good facilities

Disliked Couldn’t book onto activities and swimming until we arrived as the booking reference from pitch up is different to the one they give you on site which meant all swimming slots were already pre booked

Croyde Burrows electric grass touring pitch

Liked Gorgeous location close to the beach with lots of food options at the site and within walking distance including Pizza (Robertos, Stoned (van), Hollerbird - fried chicken and slim chicken style sauces, bar food, and a fish and chips which we didn’t sample). Also there is a tea room at Baggy point and beyond that a pub with great views of the bay. A walk up the road to Croyde check out the Hub for outstanding ice cream and also there is the Hideout at the back of the shop which has an Ibiza vibe with cocktails, food and a roof terrace. Billy buddy was also good burgers and nachos - totally recommend a visit although busy. Blue Groove we enjoyed a drink at too. Croyde was ace.

Disliked We arrived on Sunday and the toilet and shower block had definitely not been cleaned as of Monday evening despite complaints from multiple families to the central team, which was gross. Apparently the camp toilets were even worse. They operate check in days (Thurs Sat and Mon?) which are the only days when team are there until 9pm - we luckily arrived by 5pm Sunday else who knows……

Croyde Burrows electric grass touring pitch

Liked Close to the beach

Disliked Disgusting shower block. Filthy toilets full of used sanitary towels, overflowing with rubbish, didn’t flush properly and damaged toilet seats. Showers were utterly disgusting and stank. Sandy, dirty, smelly. Mould on the ceiling. It’s a disgrace that they charge what they do and only get away with it because it’s so close to the beach. Despite arriving well before 6pm both receptions were closed. Had to find security to check in to our pitch.

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch (no pets)

Liked Liked How close it was to the beach and handy shops on site.

Disliked We were told to stay 3 meters away from other tents staff told us where to place our tent they stood by us and told us where we had to lay our groundsheet which limited what we could have even though we paid for extra gazebo. Thankfully people one side of us said we could use some of their space they didn’t need. Day 2 other side of us people left new people came and pitched their tent 24 inches from our tent nothing was said to them and they kept us up most of night and early morning as we could hear everything being said and done like they were inside our tent. Kids constantly hitting our car with footballs, No privacy, everyone squeezed in like sardines so we left a day early as too stressful. Sadly wouldn’t go back.

Croyde Burrows electric grass touring pitch

Liked Location to beach.

Disliked We came 10 years ago and loved it. But unfortunately for the price you pay the toilet blocks are not up to standard. The shower pressure was terrible and it was so hot in there you felt like you needed another shower when you got out.

Local attractions

Don’t miss the chance to explore the Devonshire coastline surrounding Ruda Holiday Park. Recommendations include a walk to the headland at Baggy Point where you’ll be rewarded with outstanding views; a saunter along spectacular Saunton Sands, and a delve into the dunes at Braunton Burrows. Croyde is a perfectly pretty village of thatched cottages, tearooms, pubs, restaurants, cafés and (but of course) surf shops. There are umpteen visitor attractions in the area, particularly for animal enthusiasts, who can come face to face with life-sized model dinosaurs and a host of their living, breathing descendants at Combe Martin Wildlife Park; practise their trout pouts on some fishy friends at Ilfracombe’s aquarium; or get hands on with the animals at the Big Sheep, the area’s most eccentric day out: sheep racing and stunt ducks, anyone…?
