  • Holiday park a short stroll from the sandy surfing beach Croyde Bay
  • Surfboards and wetsuits for hire; surfing lessons available
  • Tropical indoor pool, indoor/outdoor play, beach café and kids' club
Sick of being rudely awakened by your alarm clock? Try a Ruda wakening instead: after a blissfully peaceful lie-in, take a gulp of fresh, clean air and stroll a few steps down to the golden sands and sparkling waves… Ruda Holiday Park sits right alongside the sweeping sandy surfing beach of Croyde Bay on Devon’s Gold Coast. Croyde is a popular destination for surfers, and it’d be rude not to have a go while you’re here. Guests can hire a variety of boards, wetsuits and other kit from Ruda Holiday Park’s dedicated surf shop, and instructors from the renowned Surf South West school are on hand if you want lessons. If the weather isn't playing nice, head for Ruda’s tropical indoor pool complex, where there are water rapids and underwater geysers, waterfalls, hydrojets and one humongous slide. This site is great for kids of all ages, with the children's club, adventure playground, indoor soft play area, tennis court and activities like 'tots and tunes' or character dining (this last one's during high season only). There's also a good choice of on-site food options, including a beach café and an ice-cream parlour, plus a sprightly schedule of evening entertainment, and comprehensive essential amenities.

What customers say

Awesome spot near the beach, with cracking views and helpful staff. Toilets/showers could do with a spruce-up and are sometimes a bit grubby, but the pool and facilities are a hit with families. Can get busy and pricey, with a bit of noise reported.

Liked Facilities were new and spotless. Staff were friendly and helpful. Pool and slide were great. Location is awesome as could walk to the beach to go bodyboarding.

Disliked The arcade layout is a little cramped and the 2p falls were in the main area towards the entrainment which got really busy at night, fine in the daytime.

Powered grass tent or trailer tent site (no pets)

Liked Fabulous new toilets & showers! Like a David Lloyd club or something. Cleaner did amazing job, kept them spotless. Great pitch size with a brilliant view of the sea. Electric hookup worked well. Bar was good. All staff were very friendly including the security man.

Disliked - The pool was fully booked for the entire weekend, couldn't get a slot. Maybe they can have some adult only slots and keep it open later.
- opening times of all facilities aren't on the website. Needs to be a lot clearer

Liked Location right next to the beach.
Staff were all helpful, friendly and happy.
Value for money.
Had all the facilities you might need, e.g. shops, takeaways, bar, pool, outdoor play areas, camper van amenities.

Disliked Swimming pool places get booked up way in advance (but staff were very helpful giving advice re. no-shows... we got in when others didn't turn up)

Local attractions

Don’t miss the chance to explore the Devonshire coastline surrounding Ruda Holiday Park. Recommendations include a walk to the headland at Baggy Point where you’ll be rewarded with outstanding views; a saunter along spectacular Saunton Sands, and a delve into the dunes at Braunton Burrows. Croyde is a perfectly pretty village of thatched cottages, tearooms, pubs, restaurants, cafés and (but of course) surf shops. There are umpteen visitor attractions in the area, particularly for animal enthusiasts, who can come face to face with life-sized model dinosaurs and a host of their living, breathing descendants at Combe Martin Wildlife Park; practise their trout pouts on some fishy friends at Ilfracombe’s aquarium; or get hands on with the animals at the Big Sheep, the area’s most eccentric day out: sheep racing and stunt ducks, anyone…?
