  • Holiday park a short stroll from the sandy surfing beach Croyde Bay
  • Surfboards and wetsuits for hire; surfing lessons available
  • Tropical indoor pool, indoor/outdoor play, beach café and kids' club
Sick of being rudely awakened by your alarm clock? Try a Ruda wakening instead: after a blissfully peaceful lie-in, take a gulp of fresh, clean air and stroll a few steps down to the golden sands and sparkling waves… Ruda Holiday Park sits right alongside the sweeping sandy surfing beach of Croyde Bay on Devon’s Gold Coast. Croyde is a popular destination for surfers, and it’d be rude not to have a go while you’re here. Guests can hire a variety of boards, wetsuits and other kit from Ruda Holiday Park’s dedicated surf shop, and instructors from the renowned Surf South West school are on hand if you want lessons. If the weather isn't playing nice, head for Ruda’s tropical indoor pool complex, where there are water rapids and underwater geysers, waterfalls, hydrojets and one humongous slide. This site is great for kids of all ages, with the children's club, adventure playground, indoor soft play area, tennis court and activities like 'tots and tunes' or character dining (this last one's during high season only). There's also a good choice of on-site food options, including a beach café and an ice-cream parlour, plus a sprightly schedule of evening entertainment, and comprehensive essential amenities.

What customers say

Grand spot, right by the beach! Lovely views, say the guests. Staff are grand and helpful. Toilets and showers could do with a spruce-up, some say. Pool and amenities are a hit with the kids. A bit dear and busy for some, with a bit of bother from noise now and then.

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch (no pets)

Liked Fabulous new toilets & showers! Like a David Lloyd club or something. Cleaner did amazing job, kept them spotless. Great pitch size with a brilliant view of the sea. Electric hookup worked well. Bar was good. All staff were very friendly including the security man.

Disliked - The pool was fully booked for the entire weekend, couldn't get a slot. Maybe they can have some adult only slots and keep it open later.
- opening times of all facilities aren't on the website. Needs to be a lot clearer

Croyde Burrows electric grass touring pitch

Liked Location right next to the beach.
Staff were all helpful, friendly and happy.
Value for money.
Had all the facilities you might need, e.g. shops, takeaways, bar, pool, outdoor play areas, camper van amenities.

Disliked Swimming pool places get booked up way in advance (but staff were very helpful giving advice re. no-shows... we got in when others didn't turn up)

Electric grass touring pitch (no pets)

Liked Spacious pitch on Burrows field, grass only with electric hook up. Staff friendly. Washrooms very clean. Easy walk to excellent Croyde beach. Good value for the early season offer. Leisure facilities included in price bit we didn't use them so can't comment. Small shop and food outlets on site - fish and chips good.
We would go back early or late season but think it would be very busy in the summer.

Disliked Washrooms were in need of a bit of TLC.

Electric grass touring pitch (no pets)

Liked Great facilities, two minutes from the beach, excellent value for money.

Disliked Will ask for a pitch not under the trees next time because of lack of sun, and the birds pooped all over my campervan.

Local attractions

Don’t miss the chance to explore the Devonshire coastline surrounding Ruda Holiday Park. Recommendations include a walk to the headland at Baggy Point where you’ll be rewarded with outstanding views; a saunter along spectacular Saunton Sands, and a delve into the dunes at Braunton Burrows. Croyde is a perfectly pretty village of thatched cottages, tearooms, pubs, restaurants, cafés and (but of course) surf shops. There are umpteen visitor attractions in the area, particularly for animal enthusiasts, who can come face to face with life-sized model dinosaurs and a host of their living, breathing descendants at Combe Martin Wildlife Park; practise their trout pouts on some fishy friends at Ilfracombe’s aquarium; or get hands on with the animals at the Big Sheep, the area’s most eccentric day out: sheep racing and stunt ducks, anyone…?
