  • Spacious grass pitches in a valley in the South Downs National Park
  • Hidden away and far from traffic noise
  • Many local walks and village with good pub a short walk away
Despite its name, guests at Brocklands Farm are highly unlikely to be badgered by anyone during their stay… This simple and peaceful site near Petersfield in the South Downs National Park keeps its pitch numbers low so guests can have plenty of space. It's secluded from traffic noise, in a lush green valley surrounded by lovely walks. The on-site facilities are limited to chemical waste disposal and a drinking water supply, but it’s an easy walk to the village of West Meon, where there’s a pub that serves grub, plus an award-winning butcher and a well-stocked community shop. The spacious pitches here are grassy and fairly level; rally groups and well-behaved dogs are welcome.

Non-electric grass touring pitch

Liked Peaceful, back to nature site with big pitches. Only facilities fresh water, rubbish and Elsan, which suited us as we are self sufficient. There are lovely walks direct from the site and the village of West Meon is 0.5 miles away along the Meon Valley Trail and footpath. The pitches are all sloping so we needed chocks (we are now buying bigger ones).

Liked Lovely site just off a track from the main road. Bushes and trees behind, fields in front.
Fresh water and waste disposal available.
Large pitches, so plenty of space.

Non-electric grass touring pitch

Liked A beautiful, secluded site within walking distance of the South Downs Way.
Also close to The Thomas Lord pub where we had a great meal.
When we arrived (on the last Saturday of half term) the site was full, with 18 vans packed in (some parking across the pitches which made less pitch space), but by Sunday lunchtime there were only 4 of us remaining.
The chemical disposal point is easy to access and use.
We didn't see the owner at all. It is basically book and pay online and help yourself to a pitch.

Disliked Our pitch was on a slope and even with our ramps we couldn't get anywhere near level. I guess that's why others parked at 90° across the pitches.

Liked Late availability/location/quietness/price and nice neighbours 😊

Lovely walk along the disused railway line with a pint at the end of it which was lovely especially in a nice sunny day which we had.

Disliked Nothing to dislike really.

Local attractions

The tree-lined former railway line that runs next to Brocklands is an excellent starting point for rambles and cycle rides; a popular destination a couple of miles away is Old Winchester Hill, a nature reserve with an Iron Age Hill fort. is also very handy for the South Downs Way, for those who want to walk or pedal further afield. The Watercress Line heritage railway, which runs from New Alresford to Alton, is another lovely way to explore the Hampshire countryside; or if you prefer to stay put, you could always park yourself in a scenic spot at the Moorhen Trout Fishery up the road. For a fulfilling day trip, wend your way to winsome Winchester: if you’re lucky, you may catch the famous choir in action within the splendour of the 900-year-old cathedral; other visitor attractions in this charming and compact city include a range of excellent museums, castle ruins, and an Arthurian round table, plus fab restaurants and independent shops. Lively Chichester is another pleasant place to while away a day, or you could head to Portsmouth to take a harbour tour and visit the historic dockyards, where HMS Victory and the Mary Rose are among the naval exhibits on display.
