Brocklands Farm: A clutch of VWs enjoying the post-harvest view

General

  • Spacious pitches in a secluded valley in the South Downs National Park
  • Hidden away and far from traffic noise
  • Many local walks and village with good pub a short walk away

Despite its name, guests at Brocklands Farm are highly unlikely to be badgered by anyone during their stay… This simple and peaceful site near Petersfield in the South Downs National Park keeps its pitch numbers low so guests can have plenty of space. It's secluded from traffic noise, in a lush green valley surrounded by lovely walks.

The on-site facilities are limited to chemical waste disposal and a drinking water supply, but it’s an easy walk to the village of West Meon, where there’s a pub that serves grub, plus an award-winning butcher and a well-stocked community shop.

The spacious pitches here are grassy and fairly level; rally groups and well-behaved dogs are welcome.

Please note

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, customers can amend their dates with the campground/park free of charge for all stays up to, and including, 07/16/2021.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro).

Tents are not accepted at this park.

This site has no on-site toilet and shower facilities.

Minimum spacing of 6 metres between pitches.

Quiet & peaceful site08/02/2021

If you are looking for a back to basics site this is for you. A small peaceful site that is basically a large strip of land at the bottom of a field. The pitch sizes are large so you are not near your neighbour. No showers or toilets but there is water points along the field at various places and somewhere to empty waste & empty rubbish. There is a slight slope depending on where you park, wasn’t a problem. The owner comes along about 6ish to meet you with maps of local area & walks. We had a peaceful & quiet weekend there most enjoyable - you can join the meon valley cycle trial from the site and walk to beautiful West Meon where there is a butchers, convenience store & pub. We walked miles on the beautiful byways around the site. We will most definitely be coming back.

Quiet, open site amidst rolling fields and trees. Walking distance to village with pub and a few shops. Great for access to the Meon Valley cycle trail. All pitches are slightly sloping so levelling ramps are needed. Owner was very friendly without being obtrusive.

The site is spacious, peaceful, very relaxing and set in a delightful rural area. The nearby disused railway track provides easy walking or cycling access to a variety of villages . . . . . and the pubs therein! All very agreeable - as is the management. Highly recommended.

Hard to see signs in the dark so missed the turning to start with.
Very basic but we knew this. Can imagine it could get very boggy but we had storms all night and we were fine getting 8m motorhome out. Make sure you have plenty of power before arriving!

From the manager...

Thank you for taking the trouble to review us. I am sorry to hear that you had difficulty finding us, despite our sign on the main road. We aim to make arrivals & departures as flexible as possible because we are often used by people going to or coming from the ferries.
Because we are on chalk we are fortunate that it does take prolonged rain to make us boggy.

Local attractions

The tree-lined former railway line that runs next to Brocklands is an excellent starting point for rambles and cycle rides; a popular destination a couple of miles away is Old Winchester Hill, a nature reserve with an Iron Age Hill fort. is also very handy for the South Downs Way, for those who want to walk or pedal further afield.

The Watercress Line heritage railway, which runs from New Alresford to Alton, is another lovely way to explore the Hampshire countryside; or if you prefer to stay put, you could always park yourself in a scenic spot at the Moorhen Trout Fishery up the road.

For a fulfilling day trip, wend your way to winsome Winchester: if you’re lucky, you may catch the famous choir in action within the splendour of the 900-year-old cathedral; other visitor attractions in this charming and compact city include a range of excellent museums, castle ruins, and an Arthurian round table, plus fab restaurants and independent shops.

Chi-chi Chichester is another pleasant place to while away a day, or you could head to Portsmouth to take a harbour tour and visit the historic dockyards, where HMS Victory and the Mary Rose are among the naval exhibits on display.
