This South Downs stay is simple, peaceful and nicely removed from traffic noise, in a lush green valley and surrounded by lovely walks in the national park. At Brocklands Farm, the pitch numbers are kept low so that guests can have plenty of space, and views look out over the lush green fields of the Meon Valley. The on-site facilities are limited to chemical waste disposal and a drinking water supply, but it’s an easy walk to the village of West Meon, where there’s a pub that serves grub, plus a butcher and a well-stocked community shop. When you're ready to go strolling in the South Downs, take your pick from the local trails: the Meon Valley trail is directly accessible from the site, and, at the top of the farm, it's also possible to get out onto the South Downs Way. Around the farm, keep your eyes peeled for the wildlife that live in the surrounding fields, including brown hares, roe deer, red kites and buzzards. The spacious pitches here are grassy and fairly level; rally groups and well-behaved dogs are welcome, but please note that this site does not accept tent campers, as there are no toilet facilities. Any guests in roof tents or van conversions must have their own toilet on board.

A chilled, countryside spot with loads of space, great for nature and hikes. Peace, pretty views, and close to West Meon's pub/shop. Basic facilities sorted, but no loos/showers. Good value and a proper chill vibe, with wildlife for extra flair. Some pitches are a bit sloped, and grass can be long sometimes.

Peace, stunning views, all vans spread out from each other, beautiful walks, saw five deer, around the field.
So calming.
Cant call it a camp site... its an experience...

Liked Quiet, nice views, water and waste facilities. 15 mins cross country track from good pub (bring torch)

Disliked No toilets, although the waste toilet with water flush is inside a discreet enclosure and can be used as a toilet if no-one is around

Disliked Derelict farm buildings on entry. Nobody onsite at all for questions/help or issues.
Mobile number to call if help required but no answer and no call back.
Shame.

From the manager: Hi Maria, thank you for visiting and apologies for that you were not able to get hold of me as the number on the board is mine.
I have just looked back through my call log can not see your number there for Sunday or Monday, and the calls I did miss were promptly returned. In the event of an issue on the site I would expect multiple calls or voicemails/messages, which I would act on right away.
Whilst there is no-one based on the site we check it at least daily, and I always try to answer calls/respond to missed calls asap but apologies if yours has slipped through.

Route directions

About 500 metres south of the village of West Meon, turn into entrance. Keep straight ahead leaving farm buildings to your right and continue up a concrete track and under a bridge. The site is just under the disused railway bridge. Please check under the bridge for a site plan. Otherwise pitch end-in to the bank on your left on any free pitch.

The tree-lined former railway line that runs next to Brocklands is an excellent starting point for rambles and cycle rides; a popular destination a couple of miles away is Old Winchester Hill, a nature reserve with an Iron Age Hill fort. It's also very handy for the South Downs Way, for those who want to walk or pedal further afield. The Watercress Line heritage railway, which runs from New Alresford to Alton, is another lovely way to explore the Hampshire countryside; or if you prefer to stay put, you could always park yourself in a scenic spot at the Moorhen Trout Fishery up the road. For a fulfilling day trip, wend your way to winsome Winchester: if you’re lucky, you may catch the famous choir in action within the splendour of the 900-year-old cathedral; other visitor attractions in this charming and compact city include a range of excellent museums, castle ruins, and an Arthurian round table, plus fab restaurants and independent shops. Lively Chichester is another pleasant place to while away a day, or you could head to Portsmouth to take a harbour tour and visit the historic dockyards, where HMS Victory and the Mary Rose are among the naval exhibits on display.
