General

  • Peaceful site surrounded by lakes, on the edge of the New Forest
  • Activities including archery, bushcraft and paddleboarding
  • Play area, tennis, bouldering walls and café

Set up camp for a night or several at Avon Tyrrell Outdoor Activity Centre in the New Forest, for guaranteed busy days among a wide range of forest adventures.

For among the outdoor adventures and field study activities here, you can try high and low ropes, climbing and abseiling, archery, bushcraft classes, zipwires, paddleboarding and heaps more under the eyes of its experienced instructors – or take yourself off under your own guidance for orienteering, treasure hunting, mountain biking and fishing in its lush surrounding lakes....

Happily, a café serving the likes of jacket potatoes, paninis etc is here too so that adventurers don't have far to forage when it comes to light bites, and if you need a day off from all the action the site also has a play area and free wifi. (A tennis court and bouldering walls are around too if you really can't help yourself...)

The Avon Tyrrell amenities block is well equipped with toilets, hot showers, a baby-changing room, washing-up facilities and a launderette. A small shop is to hand for basic supplies, but both Bransgore and Burley are only two miles away if you need anything else – maybe see how fast you can run there and back...?

Please note

Facilities/activities including climbing, kayaking, high ropes and archery are subject to extra charges payable on arrival.

Dogs are not allowed in the accommodation units.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Coronavirus update: because of government guidance, some activities may not be available.

Excellent site with clean facilities, friendly staff and level pitches08/09/2020

Absolutely brilliant for adventurous children of all ages. Avon Tyrrell is packed with things to see and do and offers so much as well as being close to nature. Friendly staff and excellent scenery. 10 out of 10 from me and the boys and we will be returning.

    Disliked:

The drive in and out towards the lakeside pitches is fairly tight in places. I have a 8ft wide caravan and it was pretty tight. Some people towing cars on RVs etc may struggle but there is staff nearby to guide and help.

Excellent facilities and lots to do. There was an issue with the booking - not the fault of Avon Tyrrell- which meant that we had to stay on a pitch without electric hook up. Despite being fully booked, the Manager and staff went above and beyond to accommodate us and continued to do so through our stay to get us power! Excellent service. The activity facilities are excellent, the site is superbly maintained and the staff are very friendly and extremely helpful

Around the New Forest, the many places to see include the New Forest Wildlife Park in Southampton, an ancient natural woodland and wildlife haven (look out for otters and owls); the award-winning National Motor Museum at Beaulieu, and Liberty's Owl, Raptor and Reptile Centre at Ringwood.

Pipsqeaks have the home of Peppa Pig World at Paultons Family Theme Park 30 minutes away for actively exciting day out, as well as the hands-on activities and indoor and outdoor play areas of Longdown Dairy Farm in Southampton and the Dinosaur Museum in Dorchester. Naturally, they might like trekking with a New Forest pony too.
