Avon Tyrrell Outdoor Activity Centre: Boathouse

General

  • Peaceful site surrounded by lakes, on the edge of the New Forest
  • Activities including high ropes, climbing and abseiling
  • Play area, tennis, kids' bouldering walls and café

Set up camp for a night or several at Avon Tyrrell Outdoor Activity Centre in the New Forest, for guaranteed busy days among a wide range of forest adventures.

Among the outdoor adventures and field study activities here, you can try high and low ropes, climbing and abseiling, archery, zipwire and heaps more under the eyes of its experienced instructors – or take yourself off under your own guidance for orienteering, treasure hunting, mountain biking and fishing in its lush surrounding lakes....

Happily, a café serving the likes of jacket potatoes, paninis etc is here too so that adventurers don't have far to forage when it comes to light bites, and if you need a day off from all the action the site also has a play area and free wifi. (A tennis court and kid-sized bouldering walls are around too if you really can't help yourself...)

The Avon Tyrrell amenities block is well equipped with toilets, hot showers, a baby-changing room, washing-up facilities and a launderette. A small shop is to hand for basic supplies, but both Bransgore and Burley are only two miles away if you need anything else – maybe see how fast you can run there and back...?

The area itself was lovely, some good mountain biking trails

The toilet and shower facilities were disappointing and functional at best. Everyone was packed in on top of each other with no space- less than a meter either side and 2 meters from our door to the next tent. Cafe was closed indefinitely, and no shop on site for food basics.

A lot of communal fire pit areas so I can always get access to one , camping area is not over filled so plenty of areas to pitch with allot of space to relax. There were a lot of different out door activities i can book to have fun with my family. Also I can always get either 3 or 4g internet on my phone.
