  • Wildlife haven in west Norfolk: walk to the beach in two minutes
  • Basic and peaceful site next to the Norfollk Coast Path
  • Barbecues and campfires allowed; shop and pub a few minute's walk away
The splendid beach near Hunstanton Camping and Glamping (dog-friendly Heacham beach, two minutes' walk away) is the only east-coast beach in Britain facing west. This means that guests here are often treated to the sight of a spectacular sunset over the sea – a real rarity for Norfolk. As well being a romantic sunset spot, this location is also a very enticing one for watersports enthusiasts, hikers and families – plus dog owners, who are welcome to bring their pet along for a holiday and a ramble along the Norfolk coast. Hunstanton Camping and Glamping is on the edge of the village of Heacham, in a peaceful wildlife haven surrounded by open fields. It's three miles from here to Snettisham, five to Hunstanton and 10 miles to Thornham, all with dog-friendly beaches and walks aplenty, or you could feel regal for the day with a trip to Sandringham – and its woodland walking paths – within 15 minutes' drive. The site has a good selection of amenities including toilets (ladies', gents' and unisex facilities), four indoor unisex showers and a number of outdoor showers. Grey waste water disposal and chemical disposal are available for touring guests, and plug sockets in washrooms mean you can charge phones or use hairdryers easily enough. Barbecues and campfires are both allowed; a local shop a minute's walk away has most supplies you should need. There's also a pub a few minutes' walk away.

Power optional grass RV campsite

Liked Location was great ,the owner was a lovely guy and very helpful ,

Disliked We disliked the glass in the hard standing areas also it looked quite untidy and unkempt, showers and toilets were really nice .the price is twice as high as what we normally pay for any campsite we have stayed on in the UK

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thanks for your review! We're really happy to hear you loved our great location and found the owner to be lovely and helpful. It's also wonderful to know you found the showers and toilets really nice!

We're very sorry to hear about the issues you encountered with the glass in the hardstanding areas and the untidy appearance of the site. That's definitely not the impression we want to give, and we'll be addressing these points with our team to ensure the site is always kept to the high standards we aim for.

We also understand your concern about the price. We regularly review our pricing to ensure it reflects the facilities and unique location we offer. We're always striving to provide the best value for our guests.

Power optional grass campervan campsite (no awning)

Liked Beach location

Disliked Site has been left unmanaged. Grass uncut, showers old and not very nice and hose where water is just leaking and full of muddy water.

In desperate need of some love and attention

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: It sounds like you really enjoyed our beachside location, which is fantastic! We're so lucky to be right on the coast.

However, I'm truly sorry to hear that the condition of the site, particularly the uncut grass, the state of the showers, and the leaking hose, significantly detracted from your stay. This is certainly not the standard we aim for, and your feedback about the site needing "some love and attention" is well received.

Please be assured that we're taking your comments seriously. We're actively looking into these issues to make the necessary improvements. We hope you might consider staying with us again in the future to see the positive changes we'll be making.

Power optional grass RV campsite

Liked Close to beach

Disliked Dirty toilets and showers price was way to much we have a 5.9 metre long motor home smaller than some vans we parked with vans as instructed as you are small they paid 69.80 we paid £98.80 I know £6 for dog but it’s so unfair we didn’t use showers etc just sleep two nights then told £10 per night more for electric rip off.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your feedback. We're really pleased to hear you enjoyed being so close to the beach!

However, we are very sorry to read about your experience with the dirty toilets and showers. This is absolutely not the standard we aim for, and we understand how frustrating this must have been. We will be addressing this immediately with our cleaning and maintenance teams to ensure our facilities are spotless for all guests.

We also appreciate your comments regarding our pricing. We understand your concerns, especially in comparison to other campsites you've visited. Our pricing structure takes into account various factors, including our unique beachside location, the size of pitches, and the amenities we offer. We also have a separate charge for electricity to reflect usage, rather than building it into the base pitch price, which aims to be fair to all guests regardless of their power needs. We constantly review our rates to ensure they are competitive while allowing us to maintain and improve our site.

We genuinely value your feedback as it helps us identify areas for improvement. We hope that despite these issues, you were still able to enjoy your time near the beach.

Power optional grass tent campsite (jumbo, family)

Liked great location

Disliked state of the site , littered with derelict structures, half completed projects , and partially functioning facilities, all at a premium price

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review. We're really glad to hear you appreciated our great location.

However, we're genuinely sorry to learn that the overall state of the site, including the derelict structures, half-completed projects, and partially functioning facilities, negatively impacted your stay, especially given our pricing. This isn't the experience we want for our guests, and your feedback highlights some significant areas where we clearly need to improve.

Please know that we're taking your comments seriously. We're actively working on a plan to address these issues and bring the site up to the standard our guests expect and deserve. We hope you might consider giving us another chance in the future to see the positive changes we'll be making.

The site is behind the sea defences: watch out as you head towards the sea. The site is the last farm building on the left-hand side of the road. From the A149 at King's Lynn, turn left towards Heacham South Beach (Lamsey Lane). Then, turn left again towards the beach and turn left into the campsite when you can see the sea in front of you (roughly 1000 yards before the beach).

Local attractions

Nature fans rejoice, for there's birdwatching galore around here. Make for the RSPB reserve in Snettisham for flocks of birds around the Wash, or for RSPB Titchwell Marsh (20 minutes' drive) to see avocets, marsh harriers and pink-footed geese around its marshlands, reedbeds and freshwater lagoons. Titchwell has a wide sandy beach to investigate too, where scenery seekers can snap far-reaching views across the Wash. Boating and watersports are easily accessed just down the coast at Hunstanton. The town's also home to the rides of Rainbow Park fairground, and the Sea Life Sanctuary next door where you and curious kids can see seals, penguins, otters and other watery species. Other recommended options include Norfolk Lavender, five minutes' drive away at Caley Mill, and the 12th-century ruins of Castle Rising (15 minutes), one of the biggest and best preserved keeps in England.
