  • Wildlife haven in west Norfolk: walk to the beach in two minutes
  • Basic and peaceful site next to the Norfollk Coast Path
  • Barbecues and campfires allowed; shop and pub a few minute's walk away
The splendid beach near Hunstanton Camping and Glamping (dog-friendly Heacham beach, two minutes' walk away) is the only east-coast beach in Britain facing west. This means that guests here are often treated to the sight of a spectacular sunset over the sea – a real rarity for Norfolk. As well being a romantic sunset spot, this location is also a very enticing one for watersports enthusiasts, hikers and families – plus dog owners, who are welcome to bring their pet along for a holiday and a ramble along the Norfolk coast. Hunstanton Camping and Glamping is on the edge of the village of Heacham, in a peaceful wildlife haven surrounded by open fields. It's three miles from here to Snettisham, five to Hunstanton and 10 miles to Thornham, all with dog-friendly beaches and walks aplenty, or you could feel regal for the day with a trip to Sandringham – and its woodland walking paths – within 15 minutes' drive. The site has a good selection of amenities including toilets (ladies', gents' and unisex facilities), four indoor unisex showers and a number of outdoor showers. Grey waste water disposal and chemical disposal are available for touring guests, and plug sockets in washrooms mean you can charge phones or use hairdryers easily enough. Barbecues and campfires are both allowed; a local shop a minute's walk away has most supplies you should need. There's also a pub a few minutes' walk away.

What customers say

Great spot, short walk to the beach. Staff are super friendly. Facilities are clean but basic for some, others noted a few issues. Fires allowed, it's peaceful, but pitches can be tight. Ongoing upgrades are happening.

Power optional grass RV campsite

Liked Closeness to the sea and coastal walks.

Disliked The state of the campsite. Dirty and scruffy. Toilets and showers dreadful, didn't look like they had been cleaned properly in months, shower curtains hanging off on the floor. Rubbish all over the place, that could easily have been cleared up. Glass on the drive/walk way.Grass not been cut for months. It looked like the whole place was falling apart.

Power optional grass RV campsite

Liked Great location and views

Disliked Very scruffy and toilets and showers need a good clean.
Expensive. Could be a lovely site with a bit of TLC

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re glad you enjoyed our location and the views—they really are special! We’re sorry to hear the facilities weren't up to standard during your stay. We are actually in the middle of a 'TLC' phase right now with several upgrades underway. We’ve shared your comments with our cleaning team to ensure we’re hitting the mark while we work on these improvements. We hope you'll give us another look in the future to see the progress!

Power optional grass campervan campsite (no awning)

Liked Great location, very close to the beach.
Beautiful sunsets and clear night skies.

Disliked Toilets left unclean, no hand dryers or paper towels.
It was early in the year, mid March, site was undergoing re-leveling of many pitches and generally quite scruffy.
Expensive for a rustic experience.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for visiting us so early in the season! We’re glad you got to experience those stunning Norfolk sunsets and our proximity to the beach.

We appreciate your patience while we were mid-re-leveling; we’re working hard to get the pitches perfect for the summer. Regarding the facilities, we’re sorry for the oversight with the hand drying options and cleanliness—this is being addressed with our team immediately. We hope you’ll come back once the 'spring cleaning' and leveling are complete to see the site at its best!

From the manager: Thank you so much for the high recommendation! It’s wonderful to hear that you’d not only visit us again but also suggest our site to your friends—that is truly the highest compliment we can receive.

Power optional grass campervan campsite (no awning)

Liked A quiet and rustic site with plenty of space . We arrived late and in the dark but were sorted out in short order. Lovely atmosphere on site and a short walk to a good pub with excellent food .
Unfortunately we didn’t stay long but will probably revisit as part of a Norfolk coast road trip.
A lovely chap who lives on sites had some amazing Owls which were pretty fantastic!! A great weekend .

Disliked Slightly unclear on site in the dark .

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you so much for the lovely review! We’re thrilled you enjoyed the rustic feel of the site and got a chance to meet our feathered neighbors—the owls are definitely a highlight for us, too.

We appreciate the feedback regarding arrival after dark. We’re currently looking into ways to make our signage a bit clearer for late-night arrivals to ensure the start of the trip is as smooth as the rest of it. We can’t wait to welcome you back during your Norfolk coast road trip!

Power optional grass campervan campsite (no awning)

Liked This site is well equipped and spacious. It’s very close to a nice beach with cafes and food huts. But most of all, the people that work/stay on the site are so lovely and helpful. My electric hook up cable wasn’t working, not only did they lend me one, they let me use a fast charging power bank for my phone which had died to let my family know I’d arrived (solo traveller) but they also repaired my own hook up cable. Highly recommend for the people alone.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you so much for your kind review and for recommending us to your friends. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed the spacious layout of our site and found our facilities to be so well-equipped for your stay.

It is wonderful that you were able to take advantage of our location near the beach and enjoy the local cafes and food huts. We are particularly pleased to hear about your experience with our team. We understand how important it is to stay connected, especially when travelling solo, so it was our absolute pleasure to assist with a loan cable and a power bank while repairing your own hook-up. We pride ourselves on fostering a friendly and helpful atmosphere, and it is heartening to know that both our staff and fellow guests made you feel so welcome.

We are so glad you had such a positive experience as a solo traveller, and we very much look forward to welcoming you back for another visit in the future.

Power optional grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Staff welcoming , facilities are basic but serviceable. Location is ideal. Fortunately I went at a quiet time otherwise I might have struggled to get my twin axle caravan in a relatively tight space. Enjoyable stay , no complaints. Thank you.

From the manager: Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us such a kind review following your stay in February 2026. We are delighted to hear that you had an enjoyable visit and found our staff to be so welcoming upon your arrival.

It is wonderful that you found our location to be ideal for your requirements. We are also pleased that you were able to enjoy the peace and quiet of the site during your stay, which certainly adds to the relaxed atmosphere we aim to provide. It is great to know that you successfully settled in with your twin axle caravan on your electric optional grass pitch and found everything you needed to be serviceable and convenient for your trip.

We are truly grateful for your recommendation to friends and are so pleased to hear that you intend to visit us again. We look forward to welcoming you back to your next pitch in the future.

The site is behind the sea defences: watch out as you head towards the sea. The site is the last farm building on the left-hand side of the road. From the A149 at King's Lynn, turn left towards Heacham South Beach (Lamsey Lane). Then, turn left again towards the beach and turn left into the campsite when you can see the sea in front of you (roughly 1000 yards before the beach).

Local attractions

Nature fans rejoice, for there's birdwatching galore around here. Make for the RSPB reserve in Snettisham for flocks of birds around the Wash, or for RSPB Titchwell Marsh (20 minutes' drive) to see avocets, marsh harriers and pink-footed geese around its marshlands, reedbeds and freshwater lagoons. Titchwell has a wide sandy beach to investigate too, where scenery seekers can snap far-reaching views across the Wash. Boating and watersports are easily accessed just down the coast at Hunstanton. The town's also home to the rides of Rainbow Park fairground, and the Sea Life Sanctuary next door where you and curious kids can see seals, penguins, otters and other watery species. Other recommended options include Norfolk Lavender, five minutes' drive away at Caley Mill, and the 12th-century ruins of Castle Rising (15 minutes), one of the biggest and best preserved keeps in England.
