Right by a river in Snowdonia National Park… that sounds just pretty perfect. Gwynedd's Tyn Cornel Camping is on the banks of the River Tryweryn, right next to the National White Water Centre for those whose Welsh holiday requirements include whitewater rafting, and four miles from more watery antics at Bala Lake. Mountain biking, climbing and hiking are easy to access from here too – and as you might expect in this part of the world, this woodland-bordered site is set in spectacularly scenic surrounds… If you're not feeling overly active, have a hol here to be within reach of the attractions of the national park and into the whole of north Wales: the area is packed with castles, museums, historic houses, steam railways, handsome old villages and – most important – Michelin-starred eating out for foodies. Tyn Cornel has modern and well-kept facilities, including free hot showers, a laundry and a covered washing-up area. Dogs are welcome and there's an exercise area where they can let off steam. Barbecues are encouraged across the whole site: just use them on the blocks provided to raise them off the ground.

Μου άρεσε Everything was amazing. I would say one of the best places where we stayed. Nice area , good service , welcomed people. Always hot water available. Clean area, toilets. Offering fresh milk with different flavours. They got a little shop there as well.

Μου άρεσε The staff are great, campsite is always lovely and clean.
So peaceful.

Has a coffee machine, ice cream machine and milk/milkshake machine.

We were even delighted with a pizza van! Freshly made it was gorgeous.

Μου άρεσε Very well managed and maintained site within five miles of Bala. Well spaced van pitches with plenty of waste and recycling bins conveniently sited. Friend,y managers and the the drinks and ice cream vending machines were a big hit with our grandkids!

It’s great to hear the 24‑hour fridge/freezer access, quiet evenings, and laundry facilities were useful too.
Being just a few miles from Bala is a definite help and commented a lot to us from other campers, not only for supplies but for the beautiful Llyn Tegid. We're glad having free WiFi and an on‑site shop made things easier, and we’re thrilled it all helped make your stay enjoyable.

Μου άρεσε Immaculate toilets and showers ( shower curtains rather than a lockable door in mens not ideal) good sized pitch, fairly quiet.

Δεν μου άρεσε Advertised 'shop' opening hours really did not correspond with the actual opening times ? Signposted gates did not actually lead anywhere despite searching for an exit ( 'To Fron Goch' was actually, we think, an enclosed field!? Please advise if we didn't look hard enough!? 🤣)

We apologise for any inconvenience caused by the shop not being open during the stated hours. We are never far away and always highlight to give the site mobile number a ring if the shop is closed. Being a small team, we often utilise quiet shop times to get minor jobs sorted. We will ensure our opening times are communicated more clearly and followed more consistently.
We appreciate you mentioning the signage. The “To Fron Goch” gate is part of an older access route that is no longer in use, and we understand how this could be confusing. Your feedback helps us identify areas where clearer signage would improve the guest experience.

If you've never tried whitewater rafting before this is the place to do it, as well as to tackle kayaking or canoeing year-round. For more action, Zip World and Bounce Below are all a short trip away. Walks? Pick from an easy riverside walk straight from the site, the craggy local peak of Arenig Fawr, or ascents like Snowdon or Cadair Idris within easy driving distance. For biking, some of the UK's best-rated mountain biking trails including Coed y Brenin and Penmachno are within a 30-minute drive, while for road cycling the area is filled with quiet, winding country roads, some stiff climbs and consistently fab views. Family cycling trips can be had at the Mawddach Trail, Llandegla or Llyn Brenig. The Tyn Cornel team also highly recommends castles including Harlech Castle and Criccieth Castle on the coast; the local narrow-gauge railways with spectacular views including the famed Snowdon Mountain Railway and the local Bala Lake Railway; the Italianate setting and buildings of Portmeirion village; the local ales, pub food, takeaways or fine restaurant meals in Bala; Michelin-starred fine dining at Tyddyn Llan or Llandrillo…
