Right by a river in Snowdonia National Park… that sounds just pretty perfect. Gwynedd's Tyn Cornel Camping is on the banks of the River Tryweryn, right next to the National White Water Centre for those whose Welsh holiday requirements include whitewater rafting, and four miles from more watery antics at Bala Lake. Mountain biking, climbing and hiking are easy to access from here too – and as you might expect in this part of the world, this woodland-bordered site is set in spectacularly scenic surrounds… If you're not feeling overly active, have a hol here to be within reach of the attractions of the national park and into the whole of north Wales: the area is packed with castles, museums, historic houses, steam railways, handsome old villages and – most important – Michelin-starred eating out for foodies. Tyn Cornel has modern and well-kept facilities, including free hot showers, a laundry and a covered washing-up area. Dogs are welcome and there's an exercise area where they can let off steam. Barbecues are encouraged across the whole site: just use them on the blocks provided to raise them off the ground.

喜欢 Peter and Michelle gave us the the most super friendly welcome the best we had recieved out of the 7 previous sites we had stayed at... we was close to all facilities which were really clean and tidy...and the have a real SHOP!!!!
Beautiful scenery, easy to find and well presented site with good directions...

不喜欢 People enjoyed throwing their empty glass bottles into recycling ... some people are considerate and some just ain't...

喜欢 Location was fantastic. Staff very friendly and helpful. Spotlessly clean facilities . Ideal place to stay if you’re into kayaking and whitewater rafting. Definitely be back and definitely recommend it to family and friends

喜欢 A really well-maintained site, friendly hosts and beautiful, riverside surroundings. A great play-area was in walking distance (a little bit less than a mile).

不喜欢 Lots of flies due to it close to the river (I guess), and apparently I have tasty blood!

喜欢 Our second visit to Tyn Cornel and it was as lovely and peaceful as we remembered. The river location is gorgeous and the site grounds are really well maintained. The staff are friendly and helpful and the milkshake and ice cream vending machines were a huge hit with the children as well as the football goals on to the camping field. Lovely walk down to the cafe to watch the rafters!

The women’s toilets and showers were clean and tidy with a lockable shower door and space to dry and dress within the shower cubicle.

不喜欢 We chose a fully serviced pitch this time and wish we hadn’t. We much preferred the electric hardstanding section we were on last year. The pitch was on an incline and we found it very difficult to level the caravan. Unfortunately we had forgotten our chocks (completely our fault) but the staff very kindly lent us some that had been left behind by other guests. We did however also have to use a brick and pieces of slate to get the van level.

We followed the rules given on arriving on where to place the caravan ensuring the grass area was a fire break but on the adjacent pitch there was a tent within inches of us. I feel there should be a break in between the tent pitches and caravan pitches to prevent this.

My husband and son noted cracked tiles in the bathroom that were cracked last year, a small fix which would improve the facilities. They also massively disliked the fact the men’s showers only have a curtain for privacy, no lockable door!

Tyn Cornel Camping is in prime position for exploring Snowdonia National Park, whether you're after an active holiday in north Wales or want to chill in spectacular surroundings with occasional trips out to local attractions. For active types, the National White Water Centre is metres away; the river rapids run past the site and a river access ramp is on site. If you've never tried whitewater rafting before this is the place to do it, as well as to tackle kayaking or canoeing year-round. For more action, Zip World and Bounce Below are all a short trip away. Walks? Pick from an easy riverside walk straight from the site, the craggy local peak of Arenig Fawr, or ascents like Snowdon or Cadair Idris within easy driving distance. For biking, some of the UK's best-rated mountain biking trails including Coed y Brenin and Penmachno are within a 30-minute drive, while for road cycling the area is filled with quiet, winding country roads, some stiff climbs and consistently fab views. Family cycling trips can be had at the Mawddach Trail, Llandegla or Llyn Brenig. The Tyn Cornel team also highly recommends castles including Harlech Castle and Criccieth Castle on the coast; the local narrow-gauge railways with spectacular views including the famed Snowdon Mountain Railway and the local Bala Lake Railway; the Italianate setting and buildings of Portmeirion village; the local ales, pub food, takeaways or fine restaurant meals in Bala; Michelin-starred fine dining at Tyddyn Llan or Llandrillo…
