The lake…

Juli 2026

Positiv The lake

Negativ We recently stayed at Bosworth Lodge Lakes and had booked for two nights, but unfortunately decided to leave after just one. The biggest issue was being allocated Pitch 16. Throughout our stay, people repeatedly walked directly through our pitch instead of taking the path around. At one point, a drunk camper walked through our awning, past my mum, and became tangled with our dogs. Children were also riding bikes through our pitch. We have two 9-month-old puppies who are still learning, so every time someone walked through our space they became unsettled, making what should have been a relaxing weekend incredibly stressful. To be fair, I can’t fault the staff. The warden was genuinely helpful and did what he could within his limits, even attempting to rope off part of the pitch. Reception were equally apologetic the following morning, completely understood my concerns, offered practical solutions and provided compensation, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, they can’t control the behaviour of inconsiderate campers. The real problem is that this is an ongoing site design issue rather than a one-off incident. As long as there’s nothing physically discouraging people from cutting through pitches, many will continue to do it rather than take the extra minute to walk around. My advice to anyone booking is to specifically request not to be placed on Pitch 16 or the front row in front of the lake. Alternatively, bring an extra-long windbreak so you can create more of a barrier around your pitch. That said, don’t expect it to solve the problem completely—people will simply walk through the gaps between parked cars instead. I’d also encourage the owners to consider installing waist-height posts with heavy-duty eyelets and two runs of rope between the affected pitches. It would be a simple, relatively inexpensive solution that would clearly define each pitch and significantly reduce people walking through other campers’ space. Aside from this issue, the site itself is lovely. The lake is beautiful, the toilet facilities were clean, a play area for kids and you can walk all the way around the lake. I can confirm that it’s £10 to launch your own paddleboard which isn’t stated on pitch up nor on their own website, only that it’s £10 to hire a board. If you are staying on site then launching your own board should be included, I wouldn’t expect to pay extra for that not when it’s the reason for visiting. Maybe it’s a down south thing but other sites haven’t charged unless hiring. Overall it’s a real shame because this behaviour risks dragging down what is otherwise a lovely campsite. You shouldn’t have to educate adults on respecting other people’s space, but until something is done to physically discourage it, I think this problem will continue. Hopefully the owners take this feedback on board, because with this one issue addressed, we’d happily consider returning.

We really enjoyed our stay here;…

Mai 2026

Positiv We really enjoyed our stay here; it is a lovely little site. We aren't into fishing, but it was really nice to walk around the lakes with our dogs when they weren't occupied. We also walked off-site and explored some local fields. The weather was great when we visited and the staff all seem really lovely and helpful.

Negativ Not things we disliked as such, but more a note for others. The shop isn't really a shop in the sense like other campsites we've been to. They have some snacks, canned drinks and ice creams but no camping basics such as ketchup or bits and bobs if you run out of something. Great if you can leave the site (we don't, as we have a rooftop tent). The only other mention, and I know it has been said before, is the loos. My mum has disabilities, and it was quite an effort for her to go down to the loo and back up the hill. The camping site is surrounded by some really good bushes/hedgrows, it would be ideal just to slot a portaloo or two around the field within the bushes so it's tucked away discreetly. Just a suggestion, but it wouldn't stop us coming back.

The only thing I liked about…

Jan. 2026

Positiv The only thing I liked about this place was the location and that you could easily just wonder off into the woods on the various trails.

Negativ Here’s a clear, firm, and well-structured version of your review that keeps it factual while clearly explaining the impact on you. I’ve tightened the language, corrected spelling, and made sure your main issues come through strongly without sounding emotional or aggressive: Upon arrival, we were told that we were not allowed to burn wood. As we were staying in a rooftop tent, sitting by a fire in the evening was the only way to keep warm, so this was frustrating straight away. Nowhere on the pitch-up booking page (which I booked through) does it state that burning wood is not permitted. I emailed while we were there to raise this issue and received a repetitive “sorry for the inconvenience,” which felt dismissive given the circumstances and no gesture of goodwill. Secondly, there was only one toilet block open, and the toilets and showers are closed for a full two hours starting at 10:30am. While inconvenient, this is not my main concern. The bigger issue is that guests are actively encouraged and told to use the family room and disabled toilets during this closure. As a result, disabled facilities were frequently unavailable to those who actually need them. Both of us have hidden disabilities, and we were unable to use the disabled toilets because they were being used as shower facilities by guests without disabilities. This was upsetting and unacceptable, as it removes access to facilities specifically designed for disabled guests. Overall, better communication before booking and more consideration for accessibility and disabled guests are urgently needed.

Vom Platzbetreiber: Good morning Jade, Thank you for your "well-structured" review, however on the Pitch Up booking page, under Site Features, Rules, it clearly lists campfires are not permitted. However, as explained on arrival, you could of enjoyed the effect of a campfire as long as you only burnt specialised eco logs, or charcoal, which, unlike real wood do not give off the dangerous embers, and the onsite shop stocks both for you to purchase. You are correct that only one of the three toilet blocks was open at the time of your visit. Given the low occupancy and the closure of the other areas for ground recovery, the large block provided more than sufficient facilities for everyone on site. This block is closed for just two hours each day to allow staff to carry out a thorough clean for the benefit of all guests, and clear signage is in place to advise guests of the cleaning schedule. We're sorry you felt you could not use them at any other time, but we are obligated to maintain access to the adapted family bathrooms for all to use during this short period. Outside of the daily clean, any guest with a radar key, with or without disabilities, or families are welcome to use these facilities without prejudice. In response to requesting overall better communication, you state you "emailed" the site whilst you were there, however I'm sure if you had of just popped into the office, or spoken to a team member during their rounds, they would of given you a much more personable answers to your feedback. It's disappointing you have chosen not to visit us again or recommend us to friends, however we respect your opinion and always welcome genuine feedback. Kind Regards Central Operations

I loved that there was nothing…

Nov. 2025

Positiv I loved that there was nothing here. I don't do 'commercial' sites. I just want to retreat from the world and do my own thing. I paddleboard, so the lake/pool was a huge bonus. I had full phone signal, took my laptop and managed to get 4 weeks' worth of study done in 2 nights. It was the perfect place for my ADHD brain to just shut off.

Negativ Road noise can be a bit loud, but I just put on my headphones. If you get caught by bad weather, it is a bit tough with nowhere to retreat for shelter, so be aware of high winds (roof tent).

We love the lake and the ability to paddle.

Aug. 2025

Positiv We love Litton lakes, we’ve visited lots with day passes but this was our first camping stay. Easy to check in, the new toilet block is smart and a welcome addition. The new jetty and edging to the lake is really smart.

Negativ The cafe prices are I the expensive side with a limited menu. Coffee isn’t great either. Lots of the taps didn’t work in the new toilet block. I think at one point only 2 taps out of 6 worked. The jetty needs some bone slip gripping on it, we watched numerous children hit the deck very hard, including one child smacking their head. Please supervise your children in this as it gets so slippery. A couple of noises campers.
