Ah, Cardigan Bay… cliffs, dolphins, castles, rivers and green hills… Fill your boots with the best of the bay and the whole county of Camarthenshire from a base on this spacious and friendly site, with free site-side wifi added in summer 2019. If you know your Welsh, or your Wales, you'll know that Afon Teifi Caravan and Camping is a riverside site, right on the banks of the Teifi; it's also about five minutes' drive from the lively market town of Newcastle Emlyn and around 20 minutes from the coast. It's a spacious site with a playing field along with a playground for kids of all ages and a games room kitted out with pool table, table tennis and a dartboard. Barbecues and campfires are allowed and you can stock up supplies for your alfresco feasts in nearby Newcastle Emlyn, as well as treat yourself to local ales and hot fresh food in the pubs. The site has 15 acres of lovely riverside land for the exclusive use of its visitors (human and canine): take a walk along the Teifi or fish from the banks for trout, sea trout and salmon with daily, weekly and season tickets available to purchase from the reception desk. Maybe you'll catch something for supper…

Positiv Loved this campsite, was welcomed by a lovely lady at reception who notified camp warden that we had arrived. He met us and showed us where our pitch was. Plenty of space surrounded by a little woodland and riverside walk.

Great park for the children who were all enjoying. Quiet from sunset, would recommend

Positiv The site was awesome.We was made to feel very welcome when we turned up. Lots for the kids to do there 25minute drive to the beach it was perfect for us as a family of 7 . Definitely going back next year and will be highly recommend to everybody .

Positiv Lovely site. Brilliant for kids with plenty to do. Kids more than tolerated playing around this very safe site until 10 ish then also great that they were rounded up and sent inside- saved me a job! Lovely fishing/walking/swimming area. Owner is absolutely lovely and really helpful. Lovely warm, clean toilet blocks with cubicles for basins as well as showers which I always love. Hairdryer available in the block too which was great. Good laundry and washing up facilities- very clean. Beautiful area to explore. Most things are a drive but some incredible places to drive to. British Birds of Prey Centre was a highlight, as was Tresaith beach- just amazing. There are also Red Kites nesting close to the site. It was lovely to watch them in the mornings. Nothing to complain about on the site itself at all. Lovely community atmosphere. Kids had a ball. I'd definitely be back.

Positiv Absolutely amazing site in a beautiful setting. The facilities were lovely and clean, the staff were fab, but the highlight was the river Teifi running right by the site where you can wild swim, fish, padel board, kayak etc, or just sit and and take in the tranquility. There is a little village within a 6min drive which had a Morrisons local, some lovely pubs and a gorgeous chippy. We absolutely will be back as soon as we can be.

Positiv Our first family camping experience and this place was exactly what we were looking for! Everyone is so friendly and couldn’t help enough! A big shout out to one of the workers for entertaining the children with football matches during his free time! The shower/toilet block is very clean and very well maintained! The children loved all the facilities on site- football goals, park, games room, river and rope swing in the trees. We are already planning our next visit!

Positiv I have never stayed on a cleaner, more well maintained camp site!
We stay as a family of 4 with 2 other families, kids from 4 years to 9 years and we all had the best weekend. Plenty to keep the kids (and big kids) entertained.
The site has everything you need, toilet/shower block, wash room with washing machine and tumble drier, games room, volleyball net, football field and the local market comes to the site on a Saturday morning 👌🏼
We will definitely be returning!!

Negativ We couldn’t get the WiFi to work, but the signal was good enough we didn’t need it anyway.

Positiv Good site with river access. Good hosts. Good toilets etc. Only used for a 1 night stopover.

Negativ Spoilt by other loud arguing swearing campers but can't blame the site for that!

Castles? Sorted. The ruined castle in Newcastle Emlyn is one of many built to defend this much-fought-over slice of green and pleasant land; Cilgerran, 15 minutes away, has ruinous traces of all the people who've sacked it and seized it, while 11th-century Cardigan Castle has been so well restored you'd think it was still in use. If you feel like going further back in time, spin a yarn or two at the National Wool Museum, five minutes' drive away, or hoof it over to Castell Henllys (30 minutes) to experience life in a working replica Iron Age village. The seals and dolphins have been visiting the waters of Cardigan Bay since long before the castles: spot them via a sea safari from New Quay, half an hour away. Alternatively take your binoculars when you hit the beach there, or at the similarly well-appointed sandy strips of Aberporth, Mwnt, Llangrannog and Poppit Sands, all between 20 minutes' and half an hour's drive. Antics off the sands include canoeing through the Teifi gorge from Cilgerran and walks along the 60-mile long Ceredigion Coast Path, as well as birdwatching opportunities aplenty heading inland along the wetlands of the Teifi estuary. For family days out involving wild beasts and high-octane active stuff, Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo and Heatherton World of Activities are both around an hour's drive away.
