Up for the sort of fishing holiday where you can spend many, many hours by the waterside? You'll fit right in at Stamford Way Fisheries and Camping, a fishing hotspot in quiet north Wales countryside near Ewloe, and with easy access off the A55. This is a place where anglers of all ages and abilities have the chance to try their luck on two pools from dawn until dusk. Campers get discounted rates for fishing, so what’s on offer? The carefully tended Twin Oak coarse fishing pools, well-stocked with carp and with numerous fishing pegs (including a wheelchair-friendly peg) available every day. This is a great base for fishing families, as kids can learn new skills just a short way from their caravan pitch, while experts can get stuck into competitive match fishing and festivals throughout the year. Left some kit at home? A small shop on site sells bait and pellets. And what of the pitch facilities? There's a small number of pitches for tourers, with electric hook-ups, a spotless shower block and local information in reception. And as far as catering goes, you can spark up the barbecue for alfresco feasts or abandon cooking altogether and head for the on-site café, open daily during the open season. Teas, coffees, soft drinks and alcohol are all on offer, as well as freshly prepared food taking you from breakfast to supper. If you need to stock up, head to Ewloe (five minutes’ drive), with supermarkets, post office and a petrol station, plus a pub and takeaways if you fancy venturing out of an evening.

Positiv We stayed for 1 night as we were visiting Chester Zoo. The owners are friendly and made us feel very welcome. Clean toilets and other facilities, lovely views and a fishing lake.
We would 100% recommend it and the breakfast was lovely. If we are up that way again we would stay here

would highly recommend 5***** from us and we will be back

Positiv the new owners are really friendly and welcoming and couldn't do enough for you to make you're stay as best it could be, the motorhome pitches are very spacious, the whole site is clean well managed.

It is quiet and peaceful it is also in a lovely location, there was fishing matches on so it was quite busy, and owner Dan sorted me out with a nice peg where i fished and caught plenty.

The vegan breakfast is amazing too, they also had some nice pieces of cake that we enjoyed after our dinner. would highly recommend and would recommend the fishing too as the lakes are well stocked.

5***** from us and we will be back

Positiv Dan greeted us on arrival explain everything about the site having just taken on the site. He was available if needed and worked late on improving the site. I’m not a fisherman but fishing facilities are excellent. Good food in onsite cafe

Negativ My wife is disabled they need a seat or stool in the shower cubicles to help people with disabilities to get dressed. Also lighting in wash rooms needed sorting

Positiv Daniel met us on arrival & he sat us down with a cuppa after our long journey, he was a really lovely owner & so very helpful, nothing was too much trouble, the facilities were very clean & tidy, the pitch was very spacious & right near the fishing lakes, as were all the pitches, the fishing lakes was really nice & well stocked with good size Carp, the Cafe is open during the day & the food is all freshly cooked, Daniel is a New Owner with lots of fresh ideas

Hilltop Hawarden Old Castle (10 minutes’ drive) played an important role in medieval border skirmishes and is sometimes open on summer weekends. Also worth a peek is Gladstone’s Library (five minutes), neo-Gothic reading rooms founded in 1898 and set in formal gardens.
