Positiv We absolutely loved staying at North Thorne glamping and cottages, this is our second time here. We stayed in the safari tent and woke up to the most beautiful view each day. The children have so much freedom to run about use the tennis and barn facilities. We have already enquired about staying again next year with more people. Cannot praise the hosts enough. They are both friendly and approachable and if you need anything they are happy to help. There are beautiful beaches to visit which are 20-30 minutes away from the site - we visited Saunton sands (our favourite), Croyde Bay and Woolacombe.

Positiv Had a really lovely stay at North Thorne. The location is perfect. Far away enough to feel like you've really disconnected, but not so far that going anywhere is difficult. The safari tent is situated in a really big green field overlooking the kitchen barn and the valley beyond. The skies are amazingly dark and the zoo animal noises are a unique feature! Beds are super comfy and a choice of three places to sit with food was a luxury. Lovely shabby chic decor and no chance of being cold (there was a 15 tog duvet!). With a fridge to ourselves in the barn and our own lockable bathroom, it was nice to leave our bits and pieces by the sink. Plus the kettle is handy for a cuppa. Hosts are genuinely lovely and very happy to help out. Charging electronics is best done in the barn, so worth bringing your chargers (did not feel worried about leaving things to charge there). But probably worth bringing a charge pack and a rechargeable lantern or two. :)

Positiv The location was incredible - off the beaten track, properly away from it all (but within an easy drive of all the beaches we could dream of!), and with the darkest skies I've seen for a long time. The star watching was dazzling! Such a special place.

Positiv We loved our stay at North Thorne. Andrew & Sarah were lovely hosts. They meet us on arrival to help take our things to our accommodation. We stayed in the Foxglove safari tent (5 birth) & although it was a bit windy on our first night it settled down for the remainder of the time & we were very lucky to have fantastic sunshine. We really enjoyed playing in the games barn & seeing mummy duck & her ducklings on the pond. Having our own dedicated fridge & bathroom to use in the communal barn was great & the gas stove in the tent was ideal for our morning cuppa. The tent has a small solar panel that powered a few lights & a USB socket (There was also plenty of plug sockets in the barn available for additional charging). The tent was very cosy with a small sofa & dining table. The beds/bedding was very comfortable & we all slept really well. We loved the location of North Thorne! It felt very special driving across the bridge of the Whistle pound reservoir to get there & to have such a beautiful walk on the doorstep was amazing. We also got to hear the Howler monkeys at Exmoor Zoo that is just down the road which was also very lovely. We would definitely recommend this glamping site to others & we hope to stay again next year!

Positiv We had the best time at North Thorne in a safari tent. We stayed with our 2 year old twins and 12yr old son and they all loved the holiday. Sarah and Andrew were so friendly and brilliant hosts.

The tents are perfect, the beds are extremely comfortable and even though the weather wasn’t on our side, we still felt like we had luxury and comfort whilst Glamping. The individual bathrooms are incredible!

We loved hearing the gibbons and wolves from the neighbouring Exmoor Zoo, it was so magical at night to sit out on the decking and listen to the wildlife.

We can’t wait to return again next summer!!

Positiv A truly beautiful campsite. Small, well-looked after, with the most lovely views of the countryside. It was so peaceful and the beds so comfortable I had the best sleep in ages.

I absolutely loved the private bathroom facilities, it really made such a difference. We had our own key and only our family had use of that particular bathroom.

Each family is also allocated a fridge in the communal kitchen area.

I can't praise this campsite enough.
