Positiv Site was clean and well maintained. The owners were very nice. The meadow was full of butterflies and bees and other wildlife. The sauna was excellent and the showers were ideal and no need to queue up. Good location for where we wanted to be.

Negativ We thought that other pitches had some nicer seating options than the bench that we had on our pitch. The grass was left to grow long under it whereas other seating was more moveable and comfortable. If we were given the option we may have chosen a different spot just to improve that as other guests who arrived the following day were given options to chose their own pitch (probably because they asked but we didn’t know it was an option). We were very glad to have bought a tarp with us as there was no shade on site. Recommendation to make clear to campers not to cut across pitch number 1 next to the washing up station if it’s not their pitch. This was not our pitch but we saw a few times people walking across their pitch while the guests were in their hot tub experience which is perhaps a fault of some campers. But obviously a bit of an uncomfortably invasion of their personal space. Maybe some sort of chain could be placed to signify no entry to other guests onto that specific pitch. However, our experience was great overall.

I loved how the pitches are remarry mowing circles, with long meadow grass surrounding.

Positiv Absolutely beautiful little site, so peaceful and clean and set out, the toilets and cleaning areas were amazing.
The guy who runs the site is lovely very friendly I would definitely recommend this place and if your looking for something a little extra you can hire a pitch which has a hot tub.

Positiv The pitches were huge, the campsite was peaceful, showers and toilet facilities were great. Helpful staff. Didn’t get to use the hot tub or sauna but they looked really good.

Any issues we had were resolved quickly by the hosts and we really appreciated that :)

Negativ - Only cold water in washing up area
- No ice pack freezing (although that was stated on pitchup)

Only reason to not return is no icepack freezer - it's essential!

We didn’t actually realise the ice pack freezer option had been ticked in the Pitchup amenities, so apologies for the confusion there. Although we don’t currently have a communal freezer for guests, we were more than happy to freeze your items in our personal freezer when needed.

We really appreciate the feedback and we’re always looking at ways to improve the campsite experience further.

Negativ Our pitch was clearly recently added as the grass was newly mown whereas other pitches were more established. This meant our pitch has thistles and it was on a slight decline. Also the grass got everywhere.

Positiv Showers.

Negativ We booked a 2-night stay here based on the photos online, but unfortunately ended up leaving after the first night. The grass on the main site had been cut back very roughly, leaving incredibly sharp, stiff stalks everywhere. It was too spikey to comfortably sit outside, and we were worried it could puncture our tent groundsheet


When we raised the issue, the owner did offer to let us move to the top field, but it didn’t look much different, plus we didn't want the hassle of packing up and re-pitching mid-holiday so we decided to head home.

The site quickly processed a partial refund for our second night, which we appreciated, but the main pitches really aren't up to the standard shown in the listing pictures.

Vom Platzbetreiber: Thank you for your feedback. As a small family-run campsite, it’s always difficult to receive a review like this, especially as we genuinely tried our best to resolve the situation for you throughout your stay.

As explained before your arrival, due to the bank holiday weekend and the main site being fully booked, your booking was allocated to our top field. We contacted you within minutes of your booking to make this clear, and you mentioned at the time that you would have preferred to be on the main site.

To accommodate this request, we rearranged pitches and swapped another camper who actually preferred the quieter top field so we could move you onto the main site instead. Unfortunately, the pitch you were moved onto is located right beside the forest edge. While many guests love this pitch because of the woodland setting and wildlife, the ground there is naturally firmer and rougher than some of the more central pitches due to the location and type of grass growth. It is also one of our newer pitches.

After your first night, when you raised concerns, we immediately offered to move you back to the top field where you were originally meant to stay. Although you chose not to view the alternative pitch, we had over 35 campers staying in the top field that same weekend, many of whom have since left glowing reviews.

We also processed a partial refund for your second night as a gesture of goodwill because we genuinely wanted to help resolve things fairly.

We’re always learning and improving, and we do appreciate all feedback, but we do feel disappointed by the overall review as we really don’t believe there was anything further we realistically could have done in the circumstances.

Positiv The space and pitches were enormous, which gave a sense of privacy. The site rural setting close to the A30 is also a benefit.
Campfires for me is something g my wife and I love, and seeing lots of campfires of an evening was beautiful.
Toilet block was immaculate, as well as the sauna and plunge pools. Having the luxury of having a hot tub delivered to your pitch was something extraordinary. Theo and his family is a great host, personable, approachable and incredibly helpful. It’s a new site, I hope it thrives.
