What customers say
This peaceful campground features spacious, private sites in a wildflower meadow. Guests rave about the friendly, helpful owners and the clean, well-kept facilities, including great showers. It's the perfect base for exploring the coast and countryside. While a few noted a lack of hot water for dishes and wished for a communal freezer, overall reviews are excellent, with many eager to revisit.

Higher Field primitive grass and earth campsite
Liked Although a little expensive this site was so clean and well maintained, pitches were a very good size. If you’re looking for a peaceful camping site this is ideal. When we arrived and telephoned the number as instructed, we were given simple directions and then greeted by the friendly site manager before choosing our pitch. Lovely area and site for our two dogs. Toilets and shower very clean . Highly recommend…. One suggestion I have that would make have some pitches that are enclosed for dogs. Jeanette Bailey
Disliked A little expensive.

Primitive grass and earth campsite
Liked A gorgeous place to stay! The site itself is stunning and quiet, and you get a great view of the stars on clear nights. We loved hearing a tawny owl at night, and waking up with sheep grazing in the field next to us.
The pitches are large and feel private, with a tap and bench for each pitch. The showers are lovely, and the site provides natural soap and shampoo.
Checking in was simple and the staff member was friendly and helpful - they also have signs about local spots to visit (or places that you may need, like nearby groceries or vets).
Disliked The facilities may be too small during busy periods - with only one washing up sink and not many toilets, however this wasn't an issue for us.

Liked The place the space the vibe and relaxed atmosphere. The hot tub was a real treat.
Disliked I am an early bird. Some mornings the showers took a while to get warm

I'll definitely stay here again when in the area - thank-you!
Primitive grass and earth campsite
Liked Beautiful spot - the meadow really made this site special. Each pitch is cut out of a wonderfully diverse wild meadow, full of butterflies.
The chap was friendly and helpful upon arrival and was happy for us to move to a spot nearest the forest edge so I could watch the birds!
The facilities were pretty clean - posh toilet cabin type things. I prefer compost loos but that's just personal preference.
Disliked The only notable drawback for me was the distant hum of a busy road. But it was very distant and didn't make the site feel any less peaceful.
Of course, more trees are also always a good thing but the site was only taken over in September 2025 so I think it'll just get better and better over the coming years.

Primitive grass and earth campsite
Liked Site was clean and well maintained. The owners were very nice. The meadow was full of butterflies and bees and other wildlife. The sauna was excellent and the showers were ideal and no need to queue up. Good location for where we wanted to be.
Disliked We thought that other pitches had some nicer seating options than the bench that we had on our pitch. The grass was left to grow long under it whereas other seating was more moveable and comfortable. If we were given the option we may have chosen a different spot just to improve that as other guests who arrived the following day were given options to chose their own pitch (probably because they asked but we didn’t know it was an option). We were very glad to have bought a tarp with us as there was no shade on site. Recommendation to make clear to campers not to cut across pitch number 1 next to the washing up station if it’s not their pitch. This was not our pitch but we saw a few times people walking across their pitch while the guests were in their hot tub experience which is perhaps a fault of some campers. But obviously a bit of an uncomfortably invasion of their personal space. Maybe some sort of chain could be placed to signify no entry to other guests onto that specific pitch. However, our experience was great overall.
