Leadstone Camping

Positiv Wonderful location. Nature and the scenery is lovely. Facilities are spotless. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Very nice people. Pitch and site layout is good. Walking distance to the coast and local shops/bars etc.

Negativ Have to pay for the showers. £0.20 for 5 minutes. Realistically it's not a large expense, it's just a faff in an ever increasing 'cashless' society. Fortunately my redundant ash tray in the vehicle had some shrapnel. Change is available at the kiosk too apparently (during office hours mind).

The reason we have 20p for the showers is to control the time people are in the showers, we only have 9 and when we are busy by having the 20p showers it stops people spending a long time in the showers and ques from forming. Sorry we didn't explain this on your arrival. We hope this doesn't stop you visiting us again soon

Positiv 17th to 20th Sep 2026
We spent 3 night at this lovely camp site, what can I say that has already not been said. The campsite is very well maintained, with the pitch sizes very generous. We were on the Badger site with electric. The pitches do slope (it is just the lay of the land that close to the coast) but nothing you cannot overcome with chocks. Grass is cut well and water was close bye.
The Facilities are very very good, and kept very clean, you have a big washing up area (and the hot water is hot). Washing Machines, and a freezer for ice packs. There are books and DVDs available in the washing machine room which is a nice little touch.
Good clean Toilets and a mix sex shower room at the end, there is one shower in the toilet of both the men’s and women’s toilet as well. It is 20p for a shower and I think £3 for the washing machines. Your 20p gets you 5 min, which is more than enough time, having spoken to the owners the main reason for the charge is to stop people from staying in the showers for lengthy periods of time (you know who you are).
Easy walking down to the beach (of course its downhill, but nothing to bad and a few pubs on the way to break up the walk back). Nice walks around Dawlish Warren and a good walk as well to Dawlish. For Family lots to do for the kids at Dawlish Warren Beach, good shops as well as places to eat and drink.
Great campsite, very good staff who go out of their way to chat to you and help you. Good road into the site be careful where you sat nav sends you (just stay on main road in to Dawlish Warren).

Negativ Not a dislike just a suggestion, it would be nice if campfires were allowed on one of your sites, I do like a campfire at night.

Positiv Beautiful toilet and showers

Negativ Even though the site wasn't anywhere near full, we were all crammed together in one area - felt very much on top of each other

Vom Platzbetreiber: Thank you Kaye for sharing your experience at Leadstone, We are currently having new hard standing pitches put in to one of our fields before the winter comes so our main field for motorhomes and caravans is closed, due to the rolling fields we have tried to put caravans and motorhomes on the flattest pitches, I'm sorry to hear this spoilt your holiday. Our reception is open daily from 8.30 and would of been happy to find an alternative pitch if we had been aware of your disappointment. We hope you enjoy your next holiday in your caravan.

Positiv It felt like a well organised family campsite, with good sized pitches, with electric hook up at reasonable rates. The facilities were adequate and clean. The location was perfect for our needs.

Negativ The WiFi seemed to be non existent, but to be fair we did not enquire about it.

Positiv Immaculately kept with lovely pitches.

Negativ Paying 20p for a shower,then the shower went either boiling hot or freezing cold. Loud music from Lady's Mile resort opposite. No dog walking paddock.

Thank you for mentioning the water temperature I will get it checked as i haven't had anyone report any issues. unlike many other campsites we don't charge for dogs as we don't have a dog walking area and there is areas close by that are great for dogs. this is something we may look at this in the future.

Negativ 20p to use shower and I didn’t read this on the info when I booked it so had no change when I got there. Perhaps I missed it or it’s not clear enough. No bother. Went and got change.

There could be a light curfew like there is a noise curfew. The stargazing would have been wonderful but for the flashing fairy lights around pitches. It is September not Christmas. On
