Care Ashore Campsite

Positiv Excellent site, beautiful setting, good facilities. Our stay was only marred by the presence of a number of travellers who, although polite, did not monitor their children. Unfortunately there was also a power cut on the morning we left and no not water for washing up. However, this wouldn’t have stopped us staying an extra night if there had been a pitch available, and won’t stop us staying again in the future.

Positiv We have been coming to this site for 17+years, we have seen some changes over the years but all good. We love the atmosphere and friendliness of staff and residents. Normally very clean facilities.

Negativ There were 4 vans of travelers who arrived on our second night and completely ruined our stay. The kids ran wild, no respect. The men were driving in and out all day and evening and the women did not discipline the kids. On one occasion we came back to discover they had been in our awning, luckily we did put our things in our caravan but they still got some awning poles and also the front of our caravan where Jockey wheel is the surround was cracked. Obviously we couldn't say any thing as we had no proof and did not want confrontation. We also witnessed the kids and dogs who were off leads running around in Glamping field and climbing into the cow field. Going into other people's awnings and taking things and on one occasion one of the kids took a knife to a tent and made a hole when the owner asked them about it they denied it of course. We left today and the enforcement officers were there. Shame they were not dealt with sooner because it just spoilt our stay you felt you couldn't go out in case they touched and damaged our vans etc. and it has put us off coming back. We pay good money to stay and our week was not a pleasant one. I felt sorry for the staff that had to clean the toilets as these were disgusting after the travelers used them. They also used the camping field as a toilet. I was pleased to leave and I've never felt like that before.

Positiv Lovely calm site , beautiful grounds and very reasonably priced.

Positiv Very relaxed campsite, social club was good with friendly residents.
Shower room was ok with space to get dressed.
Shower shacks were fun, although only one had hot water.
Fellow campers were also great company.

Negativ The private road past the hard standing pitches was quite busy and at times noisy.

Positiv Very nice calm atmosphere and beautiful countryside. I really enjoyed the bar in the evening.

Positiv On line check in was easy to do . There was a shop in the care home that sold a small amount of essentials they also had a bar that the campers could use which my husband went to to watch the football .the facilities were clean and well maintained.

Negativ Pitch allocation when booking in but when we arrived someone was on our allocated pitch and no-one was answering the phone number we was given as it was a weekend we didn't want to just pitch up in any pitch incase it was allocated to someone else but when we spoke to other campers they said you could pitch in any pitch. It would be helpful if that was in the email . That was the only problem we had and it would not stop us from camping there again .

We're sorry that only one of the shower shacks had hot water available while you were with us. The shower shacks are gas-powered, and unfortunately the gas bottle supplying one of the units ran out unexpectedly. This has now been replaced, and the shower is back in full working order.

Positiv Hard standing pitch was great with a nice grass area. Kitchen and toilet were clean and tidy.

Negativ The shower shack showers were cold.

Positiv A small and quiet site. Good price.

Negativ Lack of detail in email communications and poor signage on site meant it was not clear that we were in the right location. Toilet and washing facilities are basic and dated.
