Lake, forest, and spectacular countryside… what’s not to like about this fantastic setting in the southern Lake District? Add in level pitches, a goodly collection of facilities and a friendly welcome on site and you should be all set for a fab family break at Waters Edge Caravan Park. Because of its handy location close to the M6, this is a nifty spot for getting out to all of the Lake District and Yorkshire, or even popping up to Scotland (it's only an hour's drive away). After day trips, head over to the clubhouse to ponder the fine selection of beers and spirits in the well-stocked bar – if the sun’s out, take them out to sip in the fresh air on the patio. There's a friendly vibe at this place, so just try not to get too competitive playing pool with new pals or watching sport together in the TV lounge. For food, you may like to create a picnic or fire up one of the barbecues over by reception (pick up bits at the shop on site or set out for a well-stocked store half a miles away. Not in the mood to cater? Make a break for meals at the pub a couple of minutes' walk away. Other amenities around the place include outdoor taps for your drinking water, a washing-up area, a laundry room and bathrooms with individual washing cubicles, showers and accessible toilets.

Grasbewachsener Zelt-Stellplatz ohne Stromanschluss (6 Personen)

Positiv Small camp, only six camping pitches close to the reception area and a small walk to the shower block. Friendly owner, well kept site, clean facilities, small shop and bar. Close walk to the Crooklands restaurant for a meal (suggest booking as very busy) and a lovely walk down the canal.
Close to motorway junction for easy location and quick access to travel routes

Negativ Very small, but knew that and was only staying two nights to try a new tent. Pitches very close together.

Positiv Friendly site with flat pitches and close to the motorway for a stop off on a long journey. The site is sandwiched between the river and the canal feeder and is very well maintained.Nice walk along the canal just a few minutes walk away but you need to cross a very busy main road to get there. There was a bar on site, but we didn’t use it.

Negativ Normally water in showers is too cold, but here it was far too hot, and couldn’t be adjusted.

Positiv Lovely quiet little camp site, not a very big electric pitch field which is what we wanted with our 3yr old. Toilets and showers were really clean and showers lovely and hot! Liked the little bar area, very friendly staff nothing was a trouble. Enjoyed our stay. Our son loved the little water play stream- fab idea. Great base for exploring the Lake District

Positiv Close to M6. Clean site.

Negativ If you’re looking for a dog friendly site this isn’t for you. We were told as we arrived that if your dog barks in the bar you’ll be asked to leave. The sites not really big enough to walk a medium sized dog and when you walk out of the site you’re straight onto a very busy road with no footpaths in places. Men’s toilets had 2 toilet cubicles and 2 showers. Water in the wash hand basins were always cold no matter what time of day it was. The fob entry system on and off the site is ridiculous. Leaving the site you can reach the barrier control from your vehicle but entering the site means you stop before the barrier, get out of your vehicle and walk around and passed the barrier to reach the control panel. The camp shop is a waste of time chocolate, crisps and one type of ice cream and I think that was about it.

Positiv Electric hookup, good size pitch spaces. Clean toilets. very pleasant (and cheap) bar. Very handy location just a couple of minutes off the M6.

Negativ Nothing - though we were cutting it fine to arrive by 6pm so longer reception hours would be useful, especially when the bar is open. Stream behind pitch populated by noisy ducks!
