Positiv Size of pitches are enormous
Site is very well laid out and attended

Negativ Not enough urinals ( 2) in the toilet block or toilets (1) in welfare block
The hot tap on the pot wash area is leaking and gets very hot to touch ( got to keep it pressed to get water )
No hot air hand driers, there is a auto paper towel dispenser which was broke all the time we were there
Toilet roll ran out in the vents and ladies toilets which considering there is only a small number is poor.
The bins around site where people were camping were almost overflowing
No WiFi at all and almost zero phone signal
You need to do a bank transfer or pay with cash to purchase anything from site shop or pay balance when arriving which is time consuming when arriving especially if people are in front of you in the queue
We understand this is week one of them opening but keeping on top of facilities should be up there at the top of the priority list
It’s not a £40 a night site at present but could be when issues sorted

Positiv Lovely site. Clean and tidy. Beautiful toilets and showers and lovely sized fully serviced pitches. The site is still having works done such as a cafe and more shower blocks. It felt very friendly and relaxed.
We are new to motor homing but we thoroughly enjoyed it.
Bus stop right outside if you want to go to Buxton or Bakewell.

Negativ Probably for us there didn't appear to be huge hiking areas but we knew we were only there for one night so we walked around the quarry. This isn't a reflection on the site its more on what you may want to do while you are there. If its for relaxing and chilling out this is the site for you. My husband got the wifi ok i didnt but again it didnt matter as we had starlink mini with us.

Positiv Everything! This is without a doubt the best campsite I’ve ever stayed at. You get a private pitch separated with hedgerows that have a grass and gravel area, they do their best to space you out from other campers too - so you feel like you have a private little garden. The pond and dog walks are beautiful, as are the local area and views. Showers (hot adjustable water temperature with good pressure) and toilets were very clean, well stocked and accessible, with loads of room.
The staff were so friendly and their children were polite, excellent little helpers; enthusiastically guiding us to our pitch. I couldn’t fault this site and will stay here again without a doubt!

Positiv Great well kept pitches. The whole site is well kept and tranquil. The toilets and shower blocks are excellent (needs more attention to keeping hand towels in loos refilled). Showers are all modern and rainfall with controllable flow and plenty hot enough. If the shower gel pump containers aren’t to be kept filled and used, I’d recommend removing them. Better to not have any than it look like they’re not being kept full. All areas were well maintained and very clean. There’s also no sanitary bins in the ladies loos which needs addressing.

All that said, the site is under new management / owners and I’ve followed their progress on Facebook. They have turned this site around remarkably quickly and to a high standard in just a few weeks. We stayed during their opening week so I’m sure over the next few weeks these elements will all be addressed.

Very warm and friendly welcome on arrival with site map, wifi code and gate entry code provided. The site map needs updating to provide better location markers for facilities. But again, this will come. The owners/management obviously have an eye for detail.

As a previous employee of the Visit Britain (Quality in Tourism) Star Rating scheme, I would highly recommend the site be assessed. They can give you advice and guidance and I think the site under the new owners/management will achieve a high rating.

Overall a fabulous adult only site that will just get better.

Good luck with the rest of the season, I’m sure you’ll be fully booked before you know it.

PS was the electric only 10amp as advertised? We had no problems at all if it was.

Negativ Nothing to dislike really but a couple of good to know points are:

- WiFi ( intermittent)
- Phone signal (very poor to none but not a reflection of the site)
- TV signal (none but again no reflection on the site and not a game changer for many campers)

Positiv We had a lovely, peaceful stay at this very quiet campsite, which is within a short drive of both Buxton and Bakewell.

Chatsworth House is well worth a visit and is around a 25-minute drive away. If you’re planning to go, it’s worth booking online in advance, as parking is then included with your booking. If you pay for entry at the gate, there is an additional £10 parking charge on top of the entrance fee for the House and Gardens.

We received a warm welcome on arrival from the owner/site attendant, which was a nice start to our stay. The pitches are spacious, with plenty of room between them, and are separated by attractive, well-maintained beech hedging.

A couple of things to be aware of: if you’re venturing out around the site at night, bring a torch as it can be quite dark. The Wi-Fi is also a little patchy and could do with some improvement. There isn’t currently a stocked shop on site, although I’m sure this is something that may be introduced in the near future.

Overall, we had a peaceful and enjoyable stay. We would happily return in the future and would recommend the site to anyone looking for a quiet base for exploring the Peak District.

Negativ Could do with some bins for waste disposal.
