Positiv Nice views and quiet area surrounded by lovely scenery. Relaxed atmosphere, small campfire and wood offered by the site for a small charge. Reasonable charge for limited facilities. Flushing toilets, sinks and drinking water available as well as waste disposal.

Positiv No check in on arrival, just pitch up anywhere and in his own time the owner comes round to tick you off the list and show you round.
Very basic campsite.
Views are gorgeous.

Negativ Didn’t have the best experience, not to do with the facilities but with another camper parked opposite was not respectful of all around him and was playing with his border collie all evening from 5-10pm and kicking the ball and shouting. My dog was stressed. The signs clearly said please be respectful of others so I think the owner needs to be a bit more strict and do rounds to check.

Negativ The only thing I didn't like was having to buy firewood and had to wait till about 7pm to get the wood, whereas would have liked to have put the fire on much earlier. Would have liked to have just used my own and have the choice

Positiv From booking it was clear what to expect “Wild campsite” which is exactly what we wanted and it was spot on.
We spent two days here, hours walk to Bakewell and lovely walks in Lathkill Valley.
Everyone was very friendly on the campsite and my two children (7&9) had lots of fun climbing the trees and playing on a rope swing.

Negativ If you did more than a couple of nights camping it may be a bit much with the facilities however for us a couple of nights it was spot on.

Positiv Everything - the dry stone walls, the beautiful views, the gentle slope, the drive to find it, the host’s disarming greeting!
