Positiv Great meadow campsite with well spaced out camping pitches. A huge meadow space with some amazing views of the surrounding farm land. Compost toilet and outdoor shower available. Very friendly owner. Parking and cafe next to the camping meadow. A real good camping spot.

Positiv Lovely quiet, spacious campsite. We were tucked away in a corner of the field and had a really good space to ourselves.
The hedgerow shower was a wonderful, liberating experience, and the composting loo and cold water sink were absolutely fine.
It was great to be able to book a fire pit and wood, and it kept us warm well into the evening.
We were glad of the rule that we had to take our car back to the car park after dropping off our stuff - very mildly less convenient, but much nicer to have a field without cars.
The owls hooting across the field at night were a special treat!
All in all a great campsite if you just want a quiet simple time.

Positiv Very helpful staff. The setting is beautiful. Wonderful foot paths to the local pub. Very close to Quainton Hills. All the usual facilities, with loads of space. Highly recommend.

Positiv The bell tents and the location was outstanding. The toilets and showers were spotless and fantastic.

The walk to the local pub was wonderful too!

Negativ Would have been useful to have somewhere to wash things up, a larger sink/tap. Other than that it was grand.

Positiv Hi I would just like to say what a great campsite the views are amazing the food was great the owner and the staff where very nice and friendly we will return back at some point (thanks for making us feel welcome) I’ll give it 10 stars

Lots of space and generally level
Plenty of parking
Café on site
Toilet block is clean but not really sure if this is only for bell tent users.
Good access to nearby NT properties - Waddesdon Manor and Ashridge House etc

Negativ Seems to be a lack of obvious facility checking (eg; no timed list showing facility last checked at...) - hedgerow shower never worked, always (very) cold. Needs a wind cowl to stop pilot light blowing out if that is the problem.
Beware the latch on the compost toilet. From inside when closing the door, it can flick up and lock, but the thumb latch isn't adequate to open from the inside. Really needs fixing - safety hazard. Toilet seat was unclean underneath when first used - cleaned it myself and it stayed clean while we were there.
There are thistles in the field - it's wild camping to an extent, but if you go to the far side opposite the barn, there were fewer.
Fridge in the barn is only for bell tent users too. Why?
Lastly, may just be me, but we received the wrong email and were then asked to pay more for staying in the wrong place. Pitchcott then wrongly calculated the difference. They didn't appear to accept their two errors. Customer service severely lacking - friendly, but lacking any warmth,

Regarding the remainder of your review, I would like to set the record straight with the facts of what happened. You booked a stay for 3 nights in a regular camping pitch, and yet when you arrived you checked yourself into our bell tent.

Our team member on site mistakenly thought that you had booked the bell tent. When she found out that you hadn’t, she asked you very politely to pay the additional amount due. And she generously offered a discounted amount, rather than the full amount of what you should actually have paid, but you did not even agree to pay that.

You received the correct information at the time of booking, with clear instructions of where to go to pitch your tent. On the day of your arrival you received a further email, with the same instructions, with the error on our part that it included a reference to a stay in the bell tent. We acknowledged to you that error, and It in no way justifies you helping yourself to (someone else's) accommodation that you had not booked.

All the facilities were checked on Friday before the arrival of the weekend's campers. At Pitchcott we pride ourselves on our friendly and warm welcome, and also on the vast majority of our customers who show respect and consideration both for the beautiful natural surroundings, as well as for the welfare and wellbeing of other campers.

Positiv Lovely spacious spot with fantastic views, plus very nice cafe for a nice cup of coffee and breakfast.

Positiv Fantastic location and incredible views all around the site. The view from the swing seat was breathtaking! Very new and clean facilities and friendly owners. A very good spot for peace and tranquility. Camping field a very good size, we stayed in a bell tent which was basic but had comfy mattresses and perfect for a night or two.

Negativ No hooks for towels or clothes in showers, no mirrors and showers overspill onto the floor with nowhere to drain off. All
