Got a bike? Get on it and pedal over to Dalesbridge, a cycle-friendly site between the Yorkshire Dales and the Forest of Bowland. Spacious and family-run, it is within half an hour's drive of all three Yorkshire Three Peaks for hikes up Whernside, Ingleborough and Pen-y-Ghent. First things first, though, head to the on-site shop to collect some local information and a map of the local area; many walking and cycling routes begin directly from the site. There is lockable bike storage on site for your valued two-wheeled vehicles, as well as a cycle wash area so you can hose the mud off after long days up hills and down dales. Half an hour’s drive away is the Gisburn Forest, where mountain bikers of all ages, fitness and nerve can pedal a route to suit. The Dales trails and Bowland bike paths aren't the only thing to look forward to, as Dalesbridge is a peaceful family site with spectacular scenery in all directions. There’s ample room, staff who are happy to help, and most importantly for mountain roamers returning with a thirst, a fully licensed bar (open at certain times). There is also a pizza oven and an on-site shop, where you can stop off for coffee, rolls and pastries at the weekend. Based in Austwick, the site is a 10-minute drive from the historic local market town Settle which has shops and supermarkets. The Settle-Carlisle railway is also a short drive away.

Em va agradar: Second visit, well kept pitches and friendly staff and worked hard, pizza was very good. Loved the views. Very dog friendly. Bar prices reasonable and well stocked small shop. Very peaceful and relaxing few days away

No em va agradar: Dirty toilets was my only gripe - never fully cleaned or mopped that we noticed and all smelled like men’s urinals - but we’re sharing with a lot of army guys so a lot of traffic I guess
No wifi at the pitches but that didn’t bother us but maybe would bother others

Em va agradar: Proximity to Settle. Easily found

No em va agradar: No acknowledgement of stay from anyone running campsite even though I phoned to check in.
Had to ask a fellow camper where the toilets and showers were.
Shower drain blocked so flooded entire floor of booth
Despite advertising there was a shop and a bar these are only open for a limited time during the week on Tuesday, not when I was there
No WiFi

Del gerent: Sorry you didn't enjoy your stay and sorry no-one was at reception for you checkin.
The reception is not always manned although if you call our number someone will come and meet you provide you with a map and show you the facilities.
Occasionally a shower drain will blocked especially after busy a weekend. If you mention to a member of staff they will clear it straightaway.
Our website states the bar and shop opening times, every weekend and school holidays and busy days during the week.
We don't advertise WIFI on the Site although we hope to add it in the future.
Hope you come and see us again as this isnt e normal experience

Em va agradar: Great choice of tent pitches and spacious field so the children could play without being near other tents.
The washup facilities and toilet blocks were never too busy.
Hardly any road noise to say how close it is to the A65 and some fabulous views.
Can definitely recommend ordering pizzas from the site, they were fantastic!

Del gerent: Sorry you didn't enjoy your stay.
This was Bank holiday Sunday so our busiest weekends of the year.
We clean toilets 4 times a day, although with it being wet on the bank holiday they can get muddy.
Usually people like our showers. We have 2 types the individual facilities block and the large bock showers as customers have different preferences
As it was a bank holiday the bins have an extra day of waste as capacity so do get busy. we are on it on when full so they don't overflow and get empties on Mondays.

Easy going people and no hassles.

Em va agradar: Easy to find. Close to main road. Beautiful views.

No em va agradar: The bar and shop were not open because it was midweek and not in season. However, Settle is a short drive away and has everything you might need.

Em va agradar: Level pitches, lovely view, reliable electric hookup, decent facilities, helpful staff, clean, well-run site. Showers free at the point of use.

No em va agradar: The changing area next to each shower was flooded by the shower, so no dry place to stand while changing. Take a mat!

Em va agradar: The campsite was a beautiful place to stay. The staff and owner were great! I loved my stay. The campsite is very clean. Lots of walks around. Very quiet despite being busy.
I don't think I could say anything negative about it. 100% recommended and definitely will be back!!

Em va agradar: Well kept site in a beautiful setting. Great access to walks and facilities. The pizzas on Saturday night was great. Staff were lovely.

No em va agradar: Facilities sometimes felt they were under strain, despite being quiet - queues for toilets, overflowing bins. Showers in toilet block nearest dog exercise area spread out across the whole block with water.

Dalesbridge campsite is just off the main A65 road between Ingleton and Settle. Do not drive into Austwick. If travelling from the Settle direction the site is past the Austwick sign on the lefthand side of the road: turn into the entrance directly before the Dalesbridge sign. If travelling from Ingleton the site is just past the second turning into the village of Austwick; turn right after the crossroads. Satnav: please note that our entrance is directly off the A65: do not turn up Orcaber Lane!

Llocs d'interès

Starting 10 minutes away, the walk to Ingleton Falls is gentle but rewarding, and even though you’re heading deep down instead of up, the caverns and wild rock formations of Whitescar and Ingleborough caves make for unmissable wanders. For walks with wildlife, make the half-hour trip to Malham Cove, where a pair of nesting peregrine falcons can be spotted in the summer months, alongside resident populations of jackdaws and housemartins. You can climb the massive amphitheatre cliffs of the cove, or follow trails up and around taking in the glacial Malham Tarn and Janet’s Foss waterfall. To see some wildlife at closer quarters, the Settle Falconry Centre (five minutes' drive) has daily displays of flying and feeding and if you feel you’d like to soar through the skies, the Ribble Viaduct section of the Settle-Carlisle Railway makes a fair imitation. If all this outdoor, high altitude stuff has made you peckish, head over to the Wensleydale Creamery (40 minutes) to learn how the famed crumbly cheese is made… and then sample some, but of course.
