Looking for a Suffolk spot with lots of open space? The dog-friendly Stonham Barns Holiday Park might hit the sweet spot. Well-placed for the Suffolk and Norfolk countryside and coast, this place is equal parts relaxing and active. The latter is very much helped by the fact that the site is part of the Stonham Barns Golf Park site, which has a whole host of family-friendly (and quite frankly fabulous) attractions… There’s a pirate-themed miniature golf course, a sensory room and a funfair with rides and bumper cars, which should all prove a hit with pint-sized guests. No need to go hunting in the trees: the Suffolk Owl Sanctuary on site has over 80 owls and daily flying displays featuring birds of prey. Catch a comedy or tribute act at the Aspal Theatre, sojourn at the fishing lakes or get creative at the pottery painting studio, all of which are on site. Among these attractions are handy foodie places too. There’s a tearoom if you’re craving an afternoon tea and cake, a restaurant powered by local produce and a village shop selling essential food fare. These pair well with the bar and clubhouse, which has sports screens and celebrity evenings, and a shopping village full of niche independent shops. Along with a showground hosting weekly events like car or dog shows and a Sunday car boot fair, these are all one to two minutes’ walk from the pitches. On the immediate site, however, the facilities include showers, toilets, a washing-up area, disabled facilities, wifi, a kids’ play area and spaces for kids to run around and let off steam. There's also a post office on site which provides cash back and other banking services.

Em va agradar The legends bar was good, drinks were reasonable. We enjoyed the music. The lady that runs the site was very friendly and approachable. Plenty of open space for the kids to play. The shop also reasonably priced. My kids enjoyed looking around the shops. The security drove around at night which made us feel safe. Vintage car show was a good event that was our main reason for booking this site. We also attended the car boot on Sunday. The kids were very busy all weekend.

No em va agradar The toilets weren’t very pleasant, often no toilet roll or hand soap. The funfair is no longer there also the bouncy pillow which is a shame. Unfortunately had an unsettled night due to some people having a row but the security soon sorted it. The park could do with some work. And unfortunately there were many unpleasant kids.

Em va agradar The pitches are spacious and as we were in a group of 4 families, they were happy for us to set up however we liked in order to make a little area for ourselves. Having the foot golf, mini golf on site was great, as we didnt have to travel to go do something. The cade was reasonable and 20 of us had no issue finding something to eat. Make sure you book ahead at the sport bar however for groups over 8 people.

No em va agradar The facilities were not great... most of the weekend the hand soaps were empty and there was very little toilet roll, which cinsidering it wasnt even too busy, youd think could be kept on top of.
Everythinb just felt really grubby. From the males in our group, half of them refused to use the toilets as they were so grim... the family showers were the best to use. Such a shame, as this really lets the site down.

Em va agradar Lady on reception fab and very helpful.
Great site to visit the regular car shows.
Relatively quiet site after 10 unlike some parks.
Reasonable rates so can visit more often as you feel good value.
Clean toilets and showers.
Sports legends bar refurbed.

No em va agradar Be useful if shop and cafe on site had longer hours or alternatives available. Perhaps have those with dogs in similar area. We did have some dogs around us which were a little lively.

No em va agradar Security dog barking all through the night and tractor driver starting his day first thing in the next field.

Alot of the activities and shops closed. Bit rundown while new owners are taking over

No em va agradar The false info on pitchup. There is a bar, specialist shops, two cafes and the owl sanctuary. Thats it. The showers are old rusty and dirty,
The staff ( one lovely lady)on the campsite works hard and constant but cant work miracles. This place is a potential gold mine. Just needs investment.

Em va agradar Lovely flat camping field with a very large pitch. Enough toilets and showers. Great shopping village with a good pub that served reasonably priced good food and entertainment. Lovely cafe24 served delicious breakfast. There was a Sunday morning market and events on every weekend.

No em va agradar Maybe toilets and shower blocks could do with a little updating but they were clean.

With all the attractions on site, it might be a while till you look outwards in search of entertainment. However, when you do, the Suffolk coastline is splendidly within reach, as the site is on the A1120 tourist road. Thorpeness (50 minutes' drive), Aldeburgh (45 minutes) Southwold (50 minutes) deliver on walks, watersports and simple seaside amusements. This is also an excellent place to channel your inner historian and deep dive into the past. Framlingham Castle (20 minutes) is a Norman castle with a walk across the 10-metre-high walls. Sutton Hoo (half an hour) is just as spectacular, with two medieval cemeteries where a ship with Anglo-Saxon pieces was found. Perhaps pretty walks and eating out in restored Victorian buildings next? Snape Maltings (40 minutes) on the river Alde is a splendid setting for strolls and cycles, whether around the riverside loop or joining the Suffolk Coast Cycle Route 41. Take in the scenery on a river boat or sip on something caffeinated in the many independent eating venues in the Victorian buildings.
