Fishing in East Anglia should sound pretty excellent to serious angling types. There are plenty of opportunities for various angling antics at Narborough Fisheries, which has touring pitches on a private 16-acre site with a handful of fishing lakes flowing with chalk stream water from the river Nar. Narborough Fisheries has five lakes available to guests: mixed coarse lake Foresters; match and coarse lake Ashford; carp coarse lake Meadow; specimen carp lake Millers (37-pounders were landed here in 2024); and the well-stocked trout lake Willow. Just remember to bring your Environment Agency rod licence before you get started. The pitches are all set along two of the lakes, with gorgeous lakeside views. There is a shower and toilet block with accessible facilities, as well as a small, well-stocked tackle shop selling a selection of hot and cold drinks, confectionery and other snacks should you need some extra energy to power you through an afternoon of fishing. Away from the rod, you might want to take a day trip to the market town of King's Lynn (20 minutes' drive away) to nose around some shops. There is also a bus from Narborough village that takes a little over an hour to reach Norwich for a day among its Lanes and historic market.

Em va agradar The fishing was good,very quiet at night. Friendly staff.

No em va agradar Only one shower in the gents toilet,could do with at least 2 more. People driving past our pitch and not adhering to the speed limit. The site could do with a little bit of a tidy up.

Em va agradar It is only a very little campsite. Fishing is okay if you like catching small fish. Very nice Chinese easy walk. Taxis will not pick you up from this campsite as it is too far for them to come. Unless you wanna pay £28 each way.

No em va agradar Only one shower for ladies and one shower for men’s you have to pick your times

No em va agradar Only one shower for men and one for women that need updating. Clean toilets but again need updating. Fishing is good but very busy at time. The lakes do need policing more.

Em va agradar Fishing was excellent, surroundings were pleasant and receptionist went over and above for us.

No em va agradar The pitches were too small for caravans of average length. They were hard to distinguish the area allocated as they were overgrown. Too close to the road and fishermen. The toilet block needed attention. There were three toilets in the ladies but only one shower. The shower was full of mold and shower head had limescale. The area was very overgrown around the fishing pegs. The site needs a lot of improvement.

Em va agradar The lake area where the people fished was pretty. We don’t fish.

No em va agradar The rally pitch area we booked into was untidy and weeds covered all the pitches.
The toilets and showers were not clean. The shower trays had dark mould and the gents shower was blocked (they fixed for night 2). There was a dried out dead rat in the gents shower after first night. There was no mop/bucket to clean floor after a shower.
The outside plate wash station was dirty and was not cleaned for the 3 days we were there.
The pictures of the hard standing areas and toilets etc to not reflect the actual state of the facilities.
There was a constantly occupied fishing jetty right outside the ladies toilet which was unnerving for my partner.
It took 3 days to get a refund.

No em va agradar From pitch 4to 10 on the edge of the pond is over grown and keep getting tangled up and losing tackle but the fishing was good and pitches and facilities were good.we will be back for another stay

Em va agradar The pitch was good and the fishing was great. The site was lovely and quiet. This is perfect for a fishing holiday. Could also be a quiet retreat if used as a base for going out every day. Grounds seemed to be well kept and the staff were very friendly.

No em va agradar I would have liked the waste to be separated in to general waste and recycling. It did feel odd putting it all in the 1 bin. But that is probably because we are used to separating everything usually.

Fishing, fishing, nature reserves, the north Norfolk coastline and watery sports: what a lot of activities there are to catch in this part of East Anglia. Look at as many as possible of the Norwich 12 (55 minutes' drive), the city's historic buildings, as can possibly be fitted in on a day trip. (If you only have time for a couple, the obvious two are Norman Norwich Castle, which includes the Norwich Castle Museum and Art Gallery, and Norwich Cathedral with its rather splendid large cloisters.) Going west, pick the cathedral city of Peterborough (an hour and five minutes) for another day trip: alongside its 12th-century cathedral, another good idea is to potter among the quarter of a million or so exhibits of the Peterborough Museum and Art Gallery. There are watersports on the lakes at Nene Park (an hour and 10 minutes). Perhaps a puff on the Nene Valley Railway between Peterborough Nene Valley and Yarwell Junction too? Or a night out at the Key Theatre, where shows of all sorts run all year. There is plenty of wildlife and sumptuous scenery in the area, so next up might be a trip to the nearest nature reserve, the Norfolk Wildlife Trust's chalk grassland of the Ringstead Downs (35 minutes) or a wildlife-spotting float around the Norfolk Broads, easily accessible from Norwich.
