Down on the Farm

Tyckte om We had a truly wonderful stay at the farm! We live locally and keeping things simple were looking for somewhere close to camp for a couple of nights. I'm a single mum to a 6 year old boy - this was the idyllic location. And feels like a bit of a special secret. We'd previously been to a birthday party and thought it would be great to camp here.

He loved the play barn and going up and down on a tractor and playing in the huge sandpit, often making friends on site. We loved saying hello to the goats and seeing the cows.

We hired a firepit which was delivered to our campsite with wood already cut up and loved toasting marshmallows.

We had lots of space to play and there were some garden goal posts to play football, as well as basketball.

There is a fridge freezer available on the site if you need to keep things cool.

I thought the showers were lovely. Yes there are two, but we had no issue in being calm to use them when we wanted. They had plenty of space to move around and were kept clean.

The cafe is open in the day 10am-4pm which is an added bonus. Lovely cakes on display and child-friendly light bite options.

There are plenty of benches to sit at and some lovely areas to watch the sunset.

We spent one of our days at the nearby butterfly world and animal farm / soft play which we loved just a 20 minute drive away.

The nights were quiet and peaceful, a relaxed stay. The site was quiet by around 9pm.

Had an awesome peaceful view of the stars, planets and the glorious moon. Beautiful sunset.

The owners were really friendly and approachable and felt looked after during our stay.

Great budget-friendly stay.

Tyckte inte om Whilst the large open space is loved, as the site grows in popularity there may be an opportunity to paddock off some areas, of personal concern was the deep pond at the very bottom if there were parents with SEN children or small children. The owners did say that if it was of concern we could move into the other field. We were able to pitch our tent at the top of the field a good distance away from the pond.

I'm not sure if there was one but also a simple addition could also be a baby bath/ toddler steps / toddler seat for use in the shower rooms for young children too, I didn't ask for this, but these could easily be pegged up in the area just outside.

The play barn was a huge hit with the children abs the cafe/bar the same for the grown ups!

Tyckte om This is a lovely site either with very friendly staff, we stayed one night after randomly driving past the site a few weeks ago . There was a lot of wildlife which is helped by the wildlife pond and we loved saying hello to the farm animals . The site was clean and had recycling facilities.

Tyckte inte om Lots of queues for the toilets due to their shower/toilet set up and I couldn’t figure out if there was supposed to be hot water at the dish washing station or not . However it was a minor inconvenience as the weather and views were amazing

There is normally hot water in the washing up station, so if you didn't have any when you went.
There isn't normally a queue for the toilets, sorry to hear that was the case for you.

Tyckte om Very friendly welcoming owners. We were able to pitch our 3 tents together. Lots of space around the pitches. Loved the cafe and it stayed open later on weekends and served good pizzas. 15 minute drive to Cotswold water park which was a fab day out.

Tyckte inte om As others have already said, once the toilets and showers are added to, this will be a fantastic site. As it stands there’s not enough on a busy weekend.

Sorry to hear you didn't have hot water when washing up, this is not normally a problem.

- Peaceful location
- Cafe on site is a great option
- Staff were always very lovely and polite
- Kids loved the goats!
- Basketball and Swing Ball in the yard was a nice touch

Tyckte inte om - Play barn is not free for on site campers (£2.50 per child per day)
- Site is on a fairly steep hill
- There is only 2 showers for the entire site and there is often a queue.
- There is only 1 toilet available if the on site cafe is closed and the showers are in use (a toilet is also in each shower block).
- The elsan point is an approx 400m walk to the very near the site entrance.
- Very quite area which we found a little quite with not much to do.
- I don't think there was an on site small shop with essentials such as milk, bread etc

The Play Barn is part of our Stay and Play and campers have access for the whole day at a reduced rate. Considering we don't charge for children to attend like many campsites do, we feel this is still a very reasonable cost.
We are in the process of getting more showers, they are currently out of stock but will be addressed asap.
The elsan point is positioned on the entrance / exit to the site to make it easily accessible, we did not want it directly in the campsite for the risk of any smell there or in the cafe.
Most like it being a quiet area to stay, for those wanting to do something there are lots of things to do within a 20 to 30 minute drive.
The cafe does sell milk and other items to campers who want the odd bits.

Tyckte om The campsite was probably one of the best ones I have stayed at so far. The campground is large, with lots of spots to pick from, not to mention the nice pond in the middle which really adds to the experience. The cafeteria is such a nice addition and the owners are absolutely lovely, very accommodating and friendly. We were camping during the France England World Cup Match so they kept the bar open until the end of the match which was way past the closing time for the campers to come in and watch. The prices were very decent in my opinion and the bathrooms were also some of the best we’ve seen at any campsite. They had a children’s play area and some outdoor toys for them to enjoy too as well as some farm animals that the children could walk up to. Couldn’t recommend it enough and we will definitely be coming back
