Litton Lakes

Gostou Really enjoyed the idyllic lake and surrounding areas; the toilets and showers were well maintained and close by. Great for walkers as you can walk to the beach within an hour!

Não gostou Essentially we paid £86 for one site which felt unreasonable as another pitch could have been booked out. We had a tent box and a tiny 2 man tent which we could have put on two separate pitches but as we wanted to be close together, we put them both on one pitch

Gostou All facilities were clean and modern.
Lake was well kept.
Location easy to find.
The campsite had a nice atmosphere and was clean and easily accessible.

Não gostou When booking via pitch up website my email confirmation said ‘find any available pitch.’
When walking down to the lake a lady asked us if we had wristbands to which my partner and I responded no. She then said well have you checked in and I explained that the email confirmation said to just choose a space.
She bluntly replied “that’s not what we do here.”
I think for our first camping trip this initial communication was a little unpleasant and sarcastic.
Perhaps something to improve on would be to ensure information on confirmation emails is accurate instead of blaming the paying customer.

Gostou Brilliant little campsite. Super friendly. Loved the lake!
Great field with goals for kids to play on.
Didn’t get to the pub but having one 5min down the road is very handy!!

Não gostou I think the showers would be my only drawback. They’re solar powered which I love! However it does mean that hot water is very limited. We managed a warm shower at best but there were a few cold showers. Admittedly this was due to being at the lake until evening, but it would still have been nice to warm up.

Gostou Clean showers/toilets and washing up facilities. Spacious pitches, when it’s quieter.
The lake onsite was great for the kids and the river on the way to the pub was fun for the kids.

Não gostou Unable to contact the site via email, phone or watsap (we tried in numerous occasions) on the run up to our arrival.
We ended up right next to a wasp next as there wasn’t any other space. Spoke to the owner twice about it and said he’d get someone to sort it but unfortunately he didn’t. So we had wasps bothering us at every mealtime.
When the site is busy it is supposed to be quieter after 9pm as it’s a family site. Several nights were noisy and there was no one available to deal with it, not ideal when you have young kids that you’re trying to get to sleep.

Não gostou Never any warm water for washing up or showering. We tried all sorts of times of day and never once had warm water. Something was definitely broken with the solar warmed water
Recycling wasn’t working well- maybe poorly labeled, but people weren’t using it
Bin area felt unpleasant

Gostou We had a wonderful stay at Litton Lakes.

We hired the bell tent, and unfortunately couldn’t have our fire pit due to the government ban but they were very accommodating and gave us some cafe credits instead.

It was so peaceful, everyone was really friendly. The camp was clean. the lake was beautiful, we hired a kayak which was super easy.

My older two loved exploring and my
youngest enjoyed the park so there really is something for everyone!

Não gostou Extended hours on the cafe would be lovely, open slightly earlier for coffees in the morning.

Maybe a food truck could come of an evening too for hot food? but this may have been more of a struggle
on our stay due to not being able to bbq (no ones fault)

Gostou Second visit to Litton Lakes, although the first was a few years ago! Delighted to see that the campsite was so popular and that it has been improved since our last visit (was nothing wrong before but they’ve clearly reinvested in the site) - new toilet & shower block, lake has concrete edging and new jetties etc.
Love it here and we will no doubt return again before too long. Lake was hugely popular in the sunshine, paddle boards got plenty of use.

Gostou Absolutely beautiful campsite, the staff are extremely helpful and friendly. The lake is gorgeous and my children had so much fun in it at all hours! The toilets and showers are always being cleaned and this is noticeable. The pub which isn’t too far of a walk away and was recommended by the staff.

Não gostou The showers are very very cold and they do spray everywhere too, making it hard to wash children after swimming in the lake.
