A family-friendly site with grassy field pitches on a working farm, Salt Pig The Farm - Putlake is on the outskirts of the peaceful Dorset village of Langton Matravers, on the Isle of Purbeck. This is an excellent base to unwind or explore the Purbecks, whether it's walking, cycling, climbing, kayaking, coasteering or visiting tourist attractions. Pick any spot you like at this well-located site five minutes' drive from Swanage beach and 15 minutes from Studland beach. Walks through the fields to the South West Coast Path are directly accessible from the site; once there, you're on the Jurassic Coast, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and can get to spectacular walks and views of Dancing Ledge (check out the small sea pool) and the caves at Winspit Quarry. There's a bus stop and a range of footpaths just outside the site, so it's easy to explore the area on foot or by bus or car. Walk to Swanage or the historic village of Corfe Castle, or to the pub in Worth Matravers (40 minutes' walk) for a cider or two. The closest pub to the site is less than 500 metres away and has a cosy beer garden. This site's all about unwinding and soaking in the countryside views, so off-ground firepits and barbecues are welcome. There's a small shop and an on-site café serving local produce, including breakfast and lunch. In the evenings, they sometimes open up an offset smoker barbecue or pizza oven. Salt Pig The Farm - Putlake also has an attraction farm (an additional fee applies) with a large indoor soft play area, a playground and pedal go-karts. Other on-site amenities include toilets, coin-operated showers and a washing-up point.

Ik was blij met Great location for a few nights. Quiet and large field albeit slightly on slope so bring chocks to level van. Amazing cafe on site, one of the best breakfasts ever. Lovely staff. Toilets and shower block at bottom of slope but clean and fully working flush toilets. Showers 50p coin operated, I used £1 for decent shower. Hot water. Drinking water and wash up area. Cafe takes in your ice packs to freeze which is a bonus. Great pub just around the corner full of locals with sunny pub garden. Would definitely be back.

Ik was blij met Lovely atmosphere everyone was friendly including staff at the cafe
I loved the view of the hills and so nice that Dancing Ledge is a 30 minute walk away. We especially loved all the blackberries that we were able to pick as well as seeing all the free roaming animals!
It felt very safe, at night we laid outside and stargazed in our sleeping bags on the open field. It was such a fun experience!

Ik was niet blij met I didn’t like that you were charged extra to get a shower.
I also don’t like how slow the drinking water faucet was. It took ages to fill bottles up.

Paths and amazing for walking. Facilities are basic but absolutely fine and always clean. Amazing cafe on site as well!

Ik was blij met The situation of the field is lovely and the stars at night are beautiful.

Ik was niet blij met The toilet and showers are not cleaned enough and there were a lot of spiders webs and spiders. Every time we went for a shower there was grass and dirt all over the floor. The toilets had loo roll all over the floors. They are really worn and could do with fixing / updating. The showers electrical cables don’t seem safe either, considering there is water near them.

Ik was blij met Nice big field with plenty of space. The flushing toilets rather than composting. Being able to see the pigs and alpacas on the near by fields. The children loved the farm which was not overly busy and had a great hands on feel. The view from the site was great. Finally the local pub is great.

Ik was niet blij met The field was fairly hilly so needed to think about where to pitch the tent.

With a long sandy beach and shallow waters, Swanage is a popular destination for a family day at the seaside. And when you’re all beached out, you can head to Prince Albert Gardens for views of the Victorian pier and Swanage Bay, or take a ride on the Swanage Railway's heritage trains all the way to Corfe Castle and beyond. Overlooked by the ruins of 11th-century Corfe Castle, Dorset Adventure Park (10 minutes’ drive) is the place to get wet (at the inflatable water park) and/or muddy (at the assault course with cargo nets, monkey bars and mud slides). If you’re into militaria, you'll likely appreciate the displays at The Tank Museum (25 minutes), which include armoured vehicles from both World Wars, plus other conflicts like the wars in the Gulf and Afghanistan. Iconic Jurassic Coast destinations Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door are half an hour's drive away.
