Whether it’s picnics looking out over the marina or lazy mornings walking along the Coventry Canal, there’s plenty of scope for peaceful activities at Kings Orchard Marina in the middle of the Staffordshire countryside. This is a pretty marina location with 20 acres of space, all landscaped and maintained to a high standard, with a marina basin for views and a canal, narrowboat hire and local pub 10 minutes’ walk away. For any keen explorers, the icing on the cake might be that historic Lichfield is 10 minutes’ drive to the west. That means you can explore the medieval city’s 12th-century cathedral, market square and the Samuel Johnson Birthplace Museum by day before heading back in the evening to use the site’s food prep area to build a barbecue spread on the grills provided. Handily, there's a food shop under five minutes' drive away. The free-to-use barbecues and picnic tables dotted around the site are useful facilities for those quality times. As for features of convenience, Kings Orchard Marina also has toilets, showers, waste disposal and an Elsan unit. With the Staffordshire countryside on all sides, walk to your heart’s content, but don’t forget that real ales, traditional pub fare and a beer garden await at the local dog-friendly country pub alongside the Coventry Canal. This place, 10 minutes’ walk away, is a good spot for those of you who have brought dogs on your holiday.

Ik was blij met Pleasant and peaceful site with a canalside walk of around 15 to 20 minutes to a very nice pub

Ik was niet blij met Only 2 toilets which are combined with the showers. So you can be waiting some time if all you require is the toilet. One wash up area with 2 sinks and a trek from the bottom site which we was staying.

Ik was blij met Very dog friendly, great access to the canal for walkies!
Really convenient location for me as I was visiting family who live on the canal in a boat.
I also felt very safe as a solo female traveller the customer service was excellent.

Ik was niet blij met The lights were not working on the pathways some of them had been knocked down.

Quiet location

Ik was niet blij met Minor point but we had to hand the key in by 5pm as we were leaving before 8.30am the following day. Some sort of out of hours drop off and deposit refund arrangement would have been useful for us.

Ik was blij met Convenient location for needing to be in Lichfield and Birmingham for work. Nice marina with lots of wildlife and good grassy spaces for the dog! And down the road from the National Memorial Arboretum which is worth a trip!

Ik was niet blij met Not many toilets/showers, and no windows in them so very smelly at times. Also having to use a key every time is a bit of a pain. The washing up area being all the way the other side of the marina too is a bit frustrating but not the end of the world.
Most disliked being in the middle of HS2 works - not ideal and also being right by the fast train line was a little irritating.

Ik was blij met Absolutely perfect as usual! We keep coming back because it's a lovely peaceful site but so close to other amenities! Plough at Huddlesford pub is amazing and so close! Highly recommend!

As you might already be able to tell, there’s a wide choice of things to entertain yourselves with in these parts… The Foxfield Light Railway (45 minutes) is one way to discover the Staffordshire countryside, on a steam train trip that has experiences like cream tea journeys or driver experiences. Other historical detours could include a visit to The Staffordshire Regiment Museum (10 minutes), a military museum, or the 150-acre National Memorial Arboretum (10 minutes). Outdoor activities on the mind?
