Thanks for reviewing Lakeside Christine. Our location can be very peaceful and relaxing especially for those who want to escape and be 'off grid' for a while. (Oh for the good old days! :)) You have hit upon our 'marmite' issue; our FAQ's do state there is no wifi at Lakeside however, for those that need a daily connection, there is free wi-fi in the grounds of Castle Howard, just a mile away.

Hello Anna. We agree, the dark skies on a clear night are stunning, especially over the lake so we're pleased to read that you enjoyed them. The night time silence of a rural setting, especially whilst under canvas, can be a little unnerving for those not used to it (and also amazing), however, the silence also means that sounds will feel amplified so it's a pity that you were disturbed by occasional traffic.

We walked to the courtyard cafe it took about 20 -30 minutes on a path that was set back from the road. All amenities that you would expect on site, friendly staff and a really cute little shop.
