Hello Irene, thank you for your review. I had to laugh at 'but winter'! Do come and try Lakeside again in a warmer season when everything looks and feels very different.
Dog bins can be found in the designated dog walking area however all rubbish, including poo bags, can go in the main bins; the state of the art machine at the depot does all the sorting, only glass needs separating.
If you do come again Castle Howard has the outdoor 'Skelf Island Adventure Playground' for children in the grounds, bu there are also 'Creepy Crawlies', and 'Piglets Adventure Farm' which both have indoor play areas not too far away. Please ask the receptionists for more details, they will be happy to help with further information.

Thank you for your review of your one-night visit in early January. It's a shame that a previous guest had not cleared up after their dog but perhaps the mess just wasn't visible because of the snow? The site is checked regularly for litter so we apologise if you found your pitch under par.
Unfortunatley your one night stay was booked on the day of arrival and you arrived after our reception had closed. You should have received a courtesy call and if the receptionist was not able to speak to you personally she would have left a voicemail message (if possible,) to explain the procedure and facilities.
Should you come again please call in to speak with our receptionists who would have given you the camp guidelines, information on Castle Howard and answered any questions you may have had.

Another positive, for those with transport, is that North Yorkshire has many varied attractions not too far away, making Lakeside a great base for exploring further afield.
