A aimé Very nice site, clean & tidy, toilet blocks well kept, staff lovely, we forgot the connector for the hose to water source & the kind lady behind reception lent us one for the duration of our stay, bar staff also lovely and welcoming, very accommodating to dogs with a bookable dog park which was really handy and a fabulous cake shed which we visited frequently.

N'a pas aimé Only downside I would say is it’s quite far from the nearest town pooley bridge (a good hours walk) which I wouldn’t usually mind but on busy lanes with no bushes cut back for walking (again not the sites fault) but just a heads up if your wanting to get out walking from the site rather than drive out, also the bar/arcade didn’t open until 4pm which is quite late on I guess if you have children.

We appreciate you mentioning the walk to Pooley Bridge. You’re absolutely right: while the area is beautiful, the lanes can be narrow and not ideal for everyone, especially with limited verges. Although it’s outside our control, your note is really helpful for future guests considering walking routes. We also take on board your thoughts about the bar and arcade opening times, especially for families.

A aimé For such a big site it was lovely and quiet as we were the end away from the play park. Bar/ lounge lovely and nice fish and chips. The site is central for a lot of places in the lakes.

The shower facilities are kept in good condition and are cleaned regularly, making them comfortable to use. The overall area of the park is tidy, with visible effort put into keeping the surroundings in order. It feels organised and safe, and there is a sense that basic hygiene standards are properly maintained throughout the site. The natural surroundings are also pleasant, and the location itself is nice for people who enjoy camping in a more simple and quiet environment. For a short stay, the cleanliness and basic upkeep are probably the strongest points of Ullswater Holiday Park.

N'a pas aimé The main downside of Ullswater Holiday Park is how basic the facilities are. There is a clear lack of practical amenities for campers, especially for longer stays. There are no fridges available for guests to store food, which makes it inconvenient for anyone not eating out every day. The cooking and food storage options are extremely limited. There was only one microwave available, and it felt very insufficient for the number of people using the campsite. Overall, the kitchen or shared facilities area feels underdeveloped and not well equipped for modern camping expectations.
In addition, the level of comfort is quite minimal. While the site is clean, it does not offer much beyond the essentials. For the price and location, some guests may expect more convenience or additional facilities. This makes the stay feel quite basic and less comfortable, especially for families or longer visits. Because of this, the overall experience can feel a bit disappointing if you are expecting more than just the very minimum required for camping.

I understand that everyone has different expectations when camping. Ullswater Holiday Park is designed as a more traditional camping experience, where people bring their own equipment and enjoy cooking on a stove or BBQ rather than relying on kitchen-style facilities. Many guests choose this type of site because they prefer a simpler, back‑to‑nature stay rather than a hotel‑style setup.

That said, your feedback is still valuable. Some visitors do look for more amenities, especially on longer stays, and it’s helpful for the park to hear different perspectives. Hopefully you still enjoyed the beautiful surroundings and peaceful atmosphere that make the area special.

A aimé The shower block was always pristine and very well looked after. Loved the space allocated to us, a touring pitch for a roof tent and tarp awning. Fish and chips shop on site was great to tuck into after summiting Skiddaw in the morning, calories + extra were definitley replenished.

A aimé Great site and facilities, unfortunately we were only staying for one night on a pit stop back from Scotland, we knew the chippy and bar would be closed as it was a Monday, but we were impressed with what we saw and the location, and the lovely clean shower block and toilets... so will be back for a longer stay am sure, so we can do some walking, and probably opt for later in the week next time. Really grateful to the lovely lady that popped out to help us when we arrived after the reception had closed, she had already finished for the day, but went over and above when she saw us looking a bit lost outside... we'd been sent an email with late check in info and were contacted by another lovely lady by phone to say they were doing so, as we were later than planned due to traffic problems en route and we hadn't had chance to call ourselves to say we'd be late (sorry about that) so the email instructions and in person assistance was really helpful and appreciated. Will be back, and would recommend from our experience. Thanks so much.
