Looking for a Suffolk spot with lots of open space? The dog-friendly Stonham Barns Holiday Park might hit the sweet spot. Well-placed for the Suffolk and Norfolk countryside and coast, this place is equal parts relaxing and active. The latter is very much helped by the fact that the site is part of the Stonham Barns Golf Park site, which has a whole host of family-friendly (and quite frankly fabulous) attractions… There’s a pirate-themed miniature golf course, a sensory room and a funfair with rides and bumper cars, which should all prove a hit with pint-sized guests. No need to go hunting in the trees: the Suffolk Owl Sanctuary on site has over 80 owls and daily flying displays featuring birds of prey. Catch a comedy or tribute act at the Aspal Theatre, sojourn at the fishing lakes or get creative at the pottery painting studio, all of which are on site. Among these attractions are handy foodie places too. There’s a tearoom if you’re craving an afternoon tea and cake, a restaurant powered by local produce and a village shop selling essential food fare. These pair well with the bar and clubhouse, which has sports screens and celebrity evenings, and a shopping village full of niche independent shops. Along with a showground hosting weekly events like car or dog shows and a Sunday car boot fair, these are all one to two minutes’ walk from the pitches. On the immediate site, however, the facilities include showers, toilets, a washing-up area, disabled facilities, wifi, a kids’ play area and spaces for kids to run around and let off steam. There's also a post office on site which provides cash back and other banking services.

A aimé Almost every thing. The pitches were clean and well kept. They did a good job spacing out the pitches too, as it wasn't too busy so there was room between groups. The rides and play grounds were a hit.
I will say - which is no fault at all of the site - the wasps were insane and it was really frustrating trying to do anything around the tent because they were everywhere and they were relentless.

N'a pas aimé The ladies shower block was absolutely disgusting. To the point we didn't even bother showering.

So much for the kids to enjoy and really good evening entertainment at the bar food was nice there too!

A aimé Overall a very good stay here for myself and my family. The none electrical area we had was very spacious and clean.
We were close to the play ground and toilet / washing facilities.
Great selection of stuff to do onsite ; shopping, fair ground rides, places to eat etc.

N'a pas aimé Toilets were not cleaned during our duration of our stay ( arrived Saturday left Sunday) I feel they should be cleaned a few times a day with the amount of people using them, they had began to get very dirty.
Staff manning the fair ground rides seemed like they had zero interest in their job, all stood around chatting, none were watching the rides nor the children on the rides, didn’t even communicate with parents wanting to put their children on the rides other than putting their hand out for the tokens which was disappointing I feel they would benefit from some better staff training.
Not the sites fault but guests near to us were still up partying at 1:30am we had to shout over to please be respectful and be quiet ( 10pm is meant to be quiet time) as we were travelling with children we feel they could have more clear signs on who to contact if this situation arises or even a security doing trips around the site to check all is ok to avoid this type of thing.

A aimé All the staff were lovely and so helpful. We very much enjoyed the adventure golf! And had breakfast at Cafe 24 both mornings as it was so good! The campsite area is a good size, with nice and soft ground. Toilet and shower blocks were clean.

Lots to do in the site and lots of open space to burn if the kids energy.
Great food from the onsite bar.

N'a pas aimé Toilets and showers unfortunately let the stay down. Although never out of toilet roll, the cleanliness of the facilities wasn’t great.

Attractions à proximité

With all the attractions on site, it might be a while till you look outwards in search of entertainment. However, when you do, the Suffolk coastline is splendidly within reach, as the site is on the A1120 tourist road. Thorpeness (50 minutes' drive), Aldeburgh (45 minutes) Southwold (50 minutes) deliver on walks, watersports and simple seaside amusements. This is also an excellent place to channel your inner historian and deep dive into the past. Framlingham Castle (20 minutes) is a Norman castle with a walk across the 10-metre-high walls. Sutton Hoo (half an hour) is just as spectacular, with two medieval cemeteries where a ship with Anglo-Saxon pieces was found. Perhaps pretty walks and eating out in restored Victorian buildings next? Snape Maltings (40 minutes) on the river Alde is a splendid setting for strolls and cycles, whether around the riverside loop or joining the Suffolk Coast Cycle Route 41. Take in the scenery on a river boat or sip on something caffeinated in the many independent eating venues in the Victorian buildings.
