Hay-on-Wye Caravan Park

Me gustó We absolutely loved the site and would definitely stay again. We have already recommended it to friends. Booking was straightforward, the location was easy to find and we had a warm welcome on arrival.

The site itself is very well maintained and the facilities are immaculate. Plenty of toilets and showers to cater for the pitches available. We stayed over the bank holiday and despite the site appearing fully booked we never had to queue for the bathroom or showers which we have experienced elsewhere. They remained pristine throughout our stay.

The wash up area was also top quality with plenty of sinks and wash basins and drainers provided. There was an optional (paid for) dishwasher. A chest freezer was also provided for ice block refreezing. The recycling facilities were well maintained.

Location wise, the site is very picturesque and surrounded by pretty views and plenty of walks. It's a short, very flat, manageable walk (approx 27 mins) into Hay on Wye which is a lovely town with plenty of things to do and places to eat and drink.

While we weren't particularly bothered, there was a rowdy family group ignoring the very clearly set out quiet time guidelines. The following morning the site warden was clearly aware and approached us and other campers to confirm what had happened. He also spoke to the family involved. We were impressed with his proactive and pragmatic approach.

Me gustó Fantastic camping site, we had a great time and we were really impressed with all the facilities. Excellent location and a short walk to Hay-on-Wye. Totally recommended.

Me gustó The toilet and shower facilities were of a really high standard and clean.
Pitches were flat.
Washing up facilities were impressive as well as the adjoining drying room - great in wetter weather.
Our group was accomodated with pitches together even though the party was made up of two tents and a campervan and they only knew the campervan was with us when we arrived, they moved pitch to be next to us.

No me gustó Off road walk to town does have 2 styles. Not a problem but could be for large dog owners as you have yo lift them over.

Me gustó Location brilliant for visiting Hay by footpath. Lovely views. Quiet site and met some lovely people who have permanent pitches there so it has a great community feel. Facilities were excellent and very clean.

Me gustó Fabulous site, beautiful location for walking and cycling right from the door.
Facilities are spotless in every way, site is immaculate and lovely and quiet.
Super friendly welcome.
Cannot recommend highly enough, my second stay and I shall definitely go back.

No me gustó These are less dislikes, more ideas for improvements.

- The taps in the bathrooms are irritating. They are press timers, none of which stay on long enough after pressing. Some taps produce a dribble, some taps spray so hard, your clothes will be wet. Some taps are just too hot.

- A set of sinks in the showers section, to do things such as brushing teeth in more sanitary area.

- More, smaller bins around the site would be useful.

- Clearer water provisions for filling bottles etc.

- Some provisions at reception would be useful to avoid quick trips into town. E.g. sponges, salt & pepper, bread, eggs, condiments, some toiletries, etc.

- More planting in the site, like trees and bushes between spots for more privacy and beauty.

With regards to your comments.

Most caravan camping parks use push button taps as normal taps would quite often be left turned on and waste a lot of water. There are also plugs in the sinks that allow the sink to be filled if you hold the buttons down. We are looking into the point that the flow is inconsistent.
Sinks in the shower section is not something we have considered.
In Wales ALL waste must be separated and recycled. Bins around the park would encourage people not to recycle. Campers normally have there own bins at their pitches
All taps around the park with the exception of those at the chemical waste point are drinking water, these are shown on the park map in the information box & reception window for your future reference.
A small shop wouldn't be possible without constant manning and would not be viable at the moment.
Planting of bushes etc is planned with future development.
