Bishops Lydeard Caravan and Camping Site

Me gustó: It was a very welcoming site.
The lady who checked me in was lovely.
It’s on a small holding and it was lovely to visit the geese and hens and to be woken up at 4:30am by the cockerel and dawn chorus.

The showers and toilets were good for ‘Hire’ ones.
Lots of different age groups were staying the night that I stayed and it was peaceful.
I felt very safe.

I arrived by steam train from Minehead!

Me gustó: -Toilets and shower facilities were cleaned and kept well maintained
-Karen gave us a clear brief of things going on in the area. She updated her Facebook page also which is helpful.
-The field was large but fairly quiet
-There was a few pubs in walking distance which was great
-Shampoo, conditioner and body wash was provided which was a bonus
-Would definitely come again
-Karen was responsive when I had questions

No me gustó: -The chickens in the morning can be noisy but as expected
-A plug in the sink area would be beneficial
-internet signal isn’t great
-There isn’t tons around but for a short stay it’s perfect.

Me gustó: A warm welcome from Karen in a Lovely setting, level pitches, the toilet and shower block were nice and clean with shampoo conditioner & shower gel supplied if you wish to use it
Will definitely use this site again

Me gustó: Friendly owners, good location for Quantock brewery and steam train

No me gustó: Fairly basic camping in a field with festival style toilets and showers which were not very clean. Shower water temperature and flow not good. Woken at dawn (4am) by a couple of cockerels every morning.

Del administrador: Unfortunately our luxury toilet trailer was being emptied and serviced on your day of arrival, however this was back up and operational by 2pm in the afternoon. We do have portaloos as an overflow back up but these like all our other facilities as cleaned and checked twice a day.

Possibly you also didn’t use our new shower trailer. This has a state of the art powerful pump and its own tank, so as to avoid flow issues as you described. These are also cleaned and sanitised daily.

Me gustó: My 2nd visit to this wonderful site, always a warm welcome, nice peaceful site with excellent amenities (even complimentary soap, shampoo, conditioner and wash up liquid !!) no complaints at all 100%

Me gustó: Flat field for camping. Great shower and washing up facilities. Great location for the west somerset railway

Me gustó: Stayed for 2 nights and now wish it was for longer. Beautiful unspoilt campsite surrounded by woodland. Loved the geese and chickens running around in field next to camping area.
Plenty of space to pitch. Facilities looked basic but were clean and no problem to use for us. Eco friendly shower gel, shampoo, handwash and washing up liquid freely available to use.
Karen gave us valuable information about the area which was very helpful.
Close to West Somerset Railway which we used (Bishops Lydeard to Minehead and several stops in between).
Easy walk to the town, ate Thai at Lethbridge Arms one evening and can recommend that as well.
Would and definitely stay again!!

No me gustó: My only problem is that the shower was too hot for me and unable to turn heat down. Maybe better to turn heat down a bit, better a cooler shower that one that is too hot do use. Just my opinion.

So glad you enjoyed your stay with us and hopefully will see you back soon. Just an fyi. For future reference, there’s an additional separate shower room next door to the shower trailer unit. This runs off a separate boiler system and is set at a lower temperature. Our main shower trailer is now set hotter due to the requests of other campers.

Me gustó: Washing up station was really helpful, luxury loos were a nice addition. Sensible pitches with access to woodlands.

No me gustó: Water tap was not operational for quite a while around 11am when the toilets were being filled, worth baring in mind if you need to fill up around then! Struggled for 4g at the top end of the field near the toilets- worth thinking about when setting up.

Del administrador: Hi Rebecca, so glad you enjoyed your stay. Sorry I should have pointed out there is a second drinking water tap along the fence line. Noted though about using the central tap during peak times.
