Me gustó Honestly, one of the best campsite stays I’ve ever had.

Jen and her husband were absolutely brilliant from start to finish. The customer service was second to none, and they went above and beyond to accommodate us and support what we were doing with our mental health awareness challenge.

They even kindly donated towards the cause, which was incredible and says everything about the type of people they are.

The campsite itself was beautiful, with a lovely little stream opposite us and a really peaceful setting. The bridge inn nearby was also fantastic — the staff were great, the food was 10/10, and having the football on was a massive bonus.

Couldn’t recommend this place highly enough. Great people, great location, great atmosphere. We’ll definitely be back.

Me gustó Pleasant riverside site. Ideal location for walking Wasdale & Eskdale fells. Excellent level campervan pitch. Clean toilet facilities. Several neighbouring cockerels made it easy to get up at 5am to go fell-walking!

No me gustó Inconvenient 50p for shower. Difficult-to-use washing-up facility.

Me gustó Nice clean pitches, nice clean toilet blocks and fantastic hosts.
Loved the way the pitches were separated with box hedges providing a little privacy for your awning (at least where we were)
Looking forward to our return visit later in the year. Some fantastic wildlife around, most notably a red kite out hunting, and bats feeding over the river at night. Also nice to to get a visit from the RAF with a much bigger bird, though not much quicker or higher up than the kite

Me gustó Tidy site. Very clean.
Picnic benches ( if one is free) but you have to ask them to move it.
Good WIFI speed.
Picturesque riverside location

No me gustó One of two 50p coin operated boxes for the two male showers not working at the time of our visit.

A noisy fowl of some type on neighbouring property did not shut up from dawn to dusk, otherwise a quiet site.

2 mile walk ( up and down hill) with no footpath on a twisty road to catch the Wasdale Explorer Bus ( weekends and bank holiday Mondays)

Larger units may perhaps struggle to turn in but it was no issue in our campervan.

No nearby shop.

We can only apologise that one of the showers was not working during your stay however it has since been fixed and they are both working fine.

Bridge pub next door is a great pub with fantastic food.

No me gustó Cockerel crows from 5am throughout the day and into the evening. Don’t expect any sleep.
River is noisy.
Campsite can be empty but if another person arrives guaranteed they are on the pitch next to you.
Only two showers and two toilets for the whole site.

I am sorry to hear that you found The Old Post Office campsite so disappointing.

I would just like to clear a few things up.

There are not only 2 toilets and 2 showers for the whole site, there are in fact 5 toilets and 5 showers.

With regards to the noise of the river, it does state on our booking platforms that the campsite borders alongside the beautiful river irt, unfortunately i don't have an on and off switch for the noise of the river.

The cockerels have nothing to do with the campsite, we can't control the noise they make, we are surrounded by farms, I guess that is to be expected when you're in the countryside. I will be sure to let the neighbour across the way know that you are not a fan of his cockerels.

You originally booked to come with your caravan, after receiving an email from yourself to say your plans had changed and you would now be coming in a tent but would need electric, i explained that we only have non electric tent pitches but we do allow small tents on our 3 motorhome pitches, you were more than happy with this so that you could have electric, We have 4 different pitch types, customers book whatever pitch type meets their requirements, i.e. the size of the pitch and the type of vehicle they are bringing, so yes you had a motorhome next to you as you were on a motorhome pitch. unfortunately it is a campsite and yes you may have other customers pitched next to you.

We do encourage our customers to speak to a member of staff if they have any problems or questions, if you had spoken to a member of staff they may have been able to make your stay more comfortable for you.

Me gustó Well .maintained extra large pitches. Toilet and shower blocks clean. Beautiful scenery. Friendly and welcoming staff. Pub over the bridge a bonus !

Me gustó Small campsite friendly staff when they were there. Lovely pub five min walk away. Great food lovely staff

No me gustó Electric tripping. Emergency number nobody getting back to you. Both men’s showers not working no soap in toilets

I Just wanted to highlight a few of your dislikes.

Staff are on site daily to assist customers, If you are a late arrival, you are advised at the earliest opportunity to contact the site to inform them of this. in this case a member of staff contacted you, and was told that you would be a late arrival, so he informed you where your paperwork and pitch number would be left on arrival.

I Can only apologise for the electric tripping, Unfortunately on occasion the electric does Trip, depending on what customers have plugged in, If you need to get hold of a member of staff out of hours, it is advisable to call the out of hours number rather than text, text messages quite often are not received or heard, by the time your text message was received the problem had already been rectified.

We are sorry to hear you were having difficulties with the showers, you had reported both of them not working to myself at 08.30hrs monday morning, they were checked immediately and both found to be working completely fine. After speaking to other customers they haven't had any problems. The showers do not come on automatically, after inserting your 50p you do need to make sure the isolation switch is on and that you have pressed the power button for them to work.
