Me gustó: The pub on site was excellent- the beers were a particular highlight and the staff were all friendly and helpful.

There were a few beautiful walks straight from the entrance to the campsite, had we stayed for a little longer I would have enjoyed exploring them all.

At only £8 per night, per person, this site is extremely budget friendly.

The field we camped in was laid out in little sections which was pleasant. There was a little privacy between different areas of the field compared to the usual flat, open campsites.

Plenty of natural shade provided by trees and a lovely choice of pitches to choose from.

The New Inn was very easy to find on the outskirts of a quaint little village. The road leading through the Cropton was quiet and we didn’t get much-if any road noise through the night.

No me gustó: Whilst I appreciate this is not the site’s fault, and looking at other reviews we were simply unlucky, the site was loud until 1:30am.

There was one large group playing loud music and shouting until the early hours of the morning. When I contacted the pub at a little before 11pm I was told that it was not yet curfew (despite the sign-in papers and website saying quiet hours were 10:30 onwards) and questioned as to whether I had spoken to the group myself. The pub did say however they would send somebody over. Whether anybody did come and check the site or not I do not know, but the site remained loud until the early hours.

My issue with this is not so much that there was a loud group (that could happen anywhere) but rather that the problem was not resolved by management.

The toilet facilities were basic with no dedicated men’s and women’s (which we expected and have no problem with), however the lights didn’t work correctly and they were in desperate need of cleaning and maintenance.

We really wanted to like this site and we were skoping it out with hopes of returning with our children, however I cannot say that I would go back based on our experience.

No me gustó: Toilet facilities tired. Require new lighting.

Me gustó: Cheap and cheerful field next to a nice pub, which offers brewery tours. Some nice walks from site.

No me gustó: Bit of a free for all so depends who else is sharing the field at the time of your stay.only facility is a uni sex portacabin toilet. Not great but what do u expect for£16 a nite

Me gustó: Quiet, no frills with camp fires allowed.
Toilets are basic but clean.

It's a basic site and doesn't pretend to be anything else.
The pub is a gem.

Me gustó: Lovely little stop and the pub was very nice, brilliant brewery and the food was delicious. Two fields, one an old quarry, the other quite open.

Pick your own spot and some groups on the night I stayed. No hassle, good N York’s stop over.

Me gustó: Great pitch, small and not over crowded, next to the pub with great beers, lovely walks straight from the site, will definatly be gping back.

No me gustó: No showers just toilets and sinks but ok for a night or 2.

Me gustó: It was close to the Pub for dinner and in a quiet village. Not far from Pickering and Helmsley.
Food was nice

No me gustó: It was just a field, the grass wasn’t cut short, and field 2 didn’t have any water.
