Head off to High Lodge Farm in the Oxfordshire countryside and a couple of excellent rural treats await for you. The first of these is heaps of space to relax – this peaceful farm stretches out over 400 acres and is made up of fields, meadows and woodland that will make you feel like you’re a world away from urban life. Next up is some splendid scenery, as this site borders the River Thames and looks out over historic Abingdon (widely thought to be England's oldest town). The views are particularly spectacular at sunset, and later on you’ll be able to look up into the starry skies overhead. Keen to see more of this lovely landscape? The Thames Path is about five minutes’ drive away. As a pop-up site, the facilities here are fairly simple, but they’re well looked after and all the essentials are covered. Guests here have access to portable toilets, outdoor showers (a small fee is charged for hot water) and a cold-water washing-up station, and there’s also an outdoor games area and a book exchange for a bit of gentle entertainment. The generously sized pitches here have plenty of space for your awning, gazebo or pup tent, and you’ll also be allowed to set up a barbecue as long as it’s raised off the ground (no disposable barbecues, please). Firepits are also available for hire for those cosy outdoor evenings (subject to availability; logs available to purchase between 4pm and 7pm). Abingdon town centre is about a five-minute drive away for all your other supplies. Dogs are welcome at this site, and select parts of the farm will be open for exclusive walkies with your four-legged friend.

Este camping espacioso y tranquilo goza de una ubicación preciosa, con vistas y paseos por el bosque. Parcelas generosas y zona de juegos con balas de heno y columpios, ideal para niños. Me gustó The views, the middle bit with hey bails and bits and bobs for my girls, also me when we would lay at night looking at the stars. The cold shower. The weather I would recommend as well.

No me gustó Nothing really apart probably due to other campers not using the porta loos correctly. They were unflushed quite a lot, but that as I would say was due to other campers maybe kids. A bit of advice on that matter I would say is that there where not signs about making sure they are flushed or as well that they where pedal flushes not obvious lever operated. People especially kids who are not bothered may have not realised where the foot pump was located. Honestly that was my only issue which was literally for me not a problem as I am a plumber but I did notice it.

Me gustó Lovely site, loads of space; enjoyed all the children playing on the straw bales and logs in the middle of the field. A highlight for me was seeing Red Kites land. We didn't use the pop-up cafe, but the food our neighbouring campers bought looked good.
Toilets were very clean, didnt use the showers as we have one in the van

Me gustó The surrounding were amazing, great site to watch sunrise and sunset. Clean portaloo's, showers even though open topped where good. Food cabin a good benefit. Close to Abingdon with a nice trail through the fields to the Thames path.

Me gustó Fabulous site with fantastic views. Really quiet in the evenings too considering so many were camping. Loved it. Watching the red kites flying low over the field was spectacular. More facilities on site than expected, thank you!

Me gustó A great campsite, we love coming here every year. Always quiet and spacious and the kids love playing on the hay bales and climbing equipment. Lots of wildlife in the surrounding woodland.

No me gustó It’s hard to get hold of anyone if there are any problems or you need any help. The hut & coffee van aren’t open during the week. But if you can find them, staff are friendly and helpful.

Me gustó Good location with easy access to Abingdon, the path into town was welcome. The facilities are basic but showering with the trees overhead felt good. The ambiance on the site was relaxed.

This site is particularly well placed for those of you that like a scenic walk – as well as riverside rambles on the Thames Path (accessible via Abingdon Bridge, five minutes’ drive away) you’ll also be close to three wonderful National Landscapes – the Cotswolds, the Chiltern Hills and the North Wessex Downs. All three are full of excellent trails, attractive villages and traditional pubs for mid-hike refreshments. Closer to home, you can explore in a different way by hiring paddleboards in Abingdon for gentle jaunts on the water. Or perhaps you’d like to spend the day in Oxford (25 minutes’ drive), checking out some of the historic colleges, visiting the Ashmolean Museum and having a go at punting? Elsewhere nearby you can see an excellent collection of vintage trains at Didcot Railway Centre (15 minutes), explore the elegant interior and gorgeous grounds of Blenheim Palace (half an hour) or give your credit card a workout at the outlet shops of Bicester Village (35 minutes).
