Head off to High Lodge Farm in the Oxfordshire countryside and a couple of excellent rural treats await for you. The first of these is heaps of space to relax – this peaceful farm stretches out over 400 acres and is made up of fields, meadows and woodland that will make you feel like you’re a world away from urban life. Next up is some splendid scenery, as this site borders the River Thames and looks out over historic Abingdon (widely thought to be England's oldest town). The views are particularly spectacular at sunset, and later on you’ll be able to look up into the starry skies overhead. Keen to see more of this lovely landscape? The Thames Path is about five minutes’ drive away. As a pop-up site, the facilities here are fairly simple, but they’re well looked after and all the essentials are covered. Guests here have access to portable toilets, outdoor showers (a small fee is charged for hot water) and a cold-water washing-up station, and there’s also an outdoor games area and a book exchange for a bit of gentle entertainment. The generously sized pitches here have plenty of space for your awning, gazebo or pup tent, and you’ll also be allowed to set up a barbecue as long as it’s raised off the ground (no disposable barbecues, please). Firepits are also available for hire for those cosy outdoor evenings (subject to availability; logs available to purchase between 4pm and 7pm). Abingdon town centre is about a five-minute drive away for all your other supplies. Dogs are welcome at this site, and select parts of the farm will be open for exclusive walkies with your four-legged friend.

Inside, you’ll find a luxurious king-size bed with crisp white Soak & Sleep bedding, including a 13.5 tog duvet, creating the perfect cosy retreat after a day outdoors. We can also set up two single beds on request, making it ideal for couples, friends or small families alike.

The bell tent also includes a small fridge, electric plug sockets, travel kettle, fairy lights, bedside tables and lamps, luggage rack, coat stand, mirror, and a coffee table. Outside, enjoy relaxed evenings around your private fire-pit (with grill to allow for cooking) with complimentary logs included. There’s also a picnic bench and two reclining loungers for lazy countryside evenings under the stars. Guests have access to a hot outdoor shower, a basic cold-water washing-up area, and a temporary toilet facility, all shared with just one other bell tent.

喜欢 Lovely site, loads of space; enjoyed all the children playing on the straw bales and logs in the middle of the field. A highlight for me was seeing Red Kites land. We didn't use the pop-up cafe, but the food our neighbouring campers bought looked good.
Toilets were very clean, didnt use the showers as we have one in the van

喜欢 Fabulous site with fantastic views. Really quiet in the evenings too considering so many were camping. Loved it. Watching the red kites flying low over the field was spectacular. More facilities on site than expected, thank you!

喜欢 A great campsite, we love coming here every year. Always quiet and spacious and the kids love playing on the hay bales and climbing equipment. Lots of wildlife in the surrounding woodland.

不喜欢 It’s hard to get hold of anyone if there are any problems or you need any help. The hut & coffee van aren’t open during the week. But if you can find them, staff are friendly and helpful.

喜欢 Lovely location and the site was very quiet and off the beaten path. There weren't many people there at all and generally everyone was gone during the day. The setting is idyllic with woods on three sides and an extensive gravel path to take a walk along if you want. Terrific views of Abingdon at sunset.

不喜欢 I didn't see any staff during my time there and there was a food vendor which didn't open, possibly due to there only being 4-5 pitches occupied. The toilets were portaloo and the showers were very basic and required £1 to operate. Everything was very clean and no real complaints on the facilities, but it did feel a bit 'abandoned' and forgotten with hardly anyone there.

Full of tissue rolls in the toilet, hand soaps are the most important.

This site is particularly well placed for those of you that like a scenic walk – as well as riverside rambles on the Thames Path (accessible via Abingdon Bridge, five minutes’ drive away) you’ll also be close to three wonderful National Landscapes – the Cotswolds, the Chiltern Hills and the North Wessex Downs. All three are full of excellent trails, attractive villages and traditional pubs for mid-hike refreshments. Closer to home, you can explore in a different way by hiring paddleboards in Abingdon for gentle jaunts on the water. Or perhaps you’d like to spend the day in Oxford (25 minutes’ drive), checking out some of the historic colleges, visiting the Ashmolean Museum and having a go at punting?
