Holme Pierrepont Country Park

Me gustó Really beautiful grounds, plenty of space for people, no need for anyone to be on top of each other, different pitches and locations. They also have lots of combined shower and toilet cubicles, beautifully set out and a decent accessiable disabled shower area, etc. Nice site and location. My pitch was with electricity.
Communications on the day of arrival with email, excellent.

No me gustó Review factual. Usually I take pictures, post positive reviews, but with the lack of welcome received. A absolute no!

The stone faced reception I was met with upon my arrival, no welcome at the reception desk. I arrived with a smile on my face, quite uplifted to have found it and that it looked like a great campsite, I was unfortunately met with a WTF do you want attitude at reception, stared at me like I came from MARS. #FACTS.
Ashame really as reception upon arrival at the very least should be warm and friendly with contact.

Anyway, I explained that I was a little early, roughly 1 hour, my stupid mistake for being so bloody, honest. I was told instantly there was £6 charge for early arrivals to get my pitch earlier. I paid it as I couldn't be bothered to argue and wasn't letting her ot anyone piss me off over their own issues. However, my pitch was already empty, and other spots. To top it off, other people who came early were not even charged like myself or given the same treatment for being there early. Us campers do talk. For me, it's not about the money it's the principle, and the fact £6 is a joke in reality. It isn't written on site rules or policies. Other nicer places don't even do this and I thought with the reception it was quite harsh on top. I 100% wouldn't recommend or go back here as a result. Everyone should be treated equally and fairly.

Showers and toilets were not cleaned early enough. As others said, filthy in the morning. No sign of AM cleaner. I did text, and they did respond to say it had just been done, which was in the late evening.

Heads up!
Some noise can be heard from the main road, didn’t bother me a great deal, but may other people.

Neighbouring Tent walking too close to our personal area I.e pitch, when vast amount of space available not to intrude near us or other people throughout the day and at night.
Common sense did not prevail.

Not all advertised activities are available. Kids disappointed.
Adults disappointed. Shop only accepts card on campsite.

Me gustó Ease of booking and response/confirmation of booking.
Toilets and showers were fairly tidy, with ease of access, washing up facilities were good.

No me gustó Someone was already on our allocated pitch, however the site team quickly resolved the issue giving us what turned out to be a better alternative.

No me gustó Toilets were filthy even after “cleaning” very loud even after the supposed quiet time with no wardens to be seen enforcing this. Shop was very poorly stocked and extremely expensive

No me gustó The toilets smelled of urine the majority of the time, the showers were ok but dated and you had to keep pressing them to keep on. There was dog poo on the field. The staff did not seem overly bothered. There was no hot water in the evening to wash pots.

The electric grass pitch was perfect, very close to the shower block as I requested.

No me gustó The grass had just been cut, so within a few hours, the tent was full of grass cuttings

Me gustó Basic cafe and laundry (but counted 12 spiders in and around the machines). Hot showers. Small playground on site. Lots of space to run and play sports. Pot wash facility. Ice cream truck on site though came quite late. Pretty area. Aldi and shops 10 min drive away.

No me gustó Directed to the incorrect and non electric pitch, pitched in the pouring rain then had to drag the tent 5 pitches down to an electric point. No apology. Right next to a very busy road. Toilets and showers unisex and difficult to lock which meant people walked in on people! Doors don't show they are in use from the outside so people try all the doors to find one free. Toilets and sinks not cleaned once in 3 day stay, mop in each shower for us to clean afterwards, push button showers giving 1 second of hot water. Drinking water from designated tap didn't taste good so we bought our own. 20 min walk to the expensive water sports centre but at least has the bigger and free playground (not on site as website suggests). £7 to park all day. Only 9 holes very boring golf for £20 family, we went to Highfields park 20 min drive away for 18 holes of fantastic adventure golf for £27 & a much bigger canoeing lake and playground, also a lovely cafe and arts museum on site, free parking all day. Also had canoeing on a big beautiful lake and foot golf. No WiFi.

Me gustó Close proximity to the water sports centre and other activities. A decent on-site children’s park.

No me gustó Toilet and shower block wasn’t clean and very tired looking. Locks missing off of cubicles. No cold water in the sinks only hot. The bin areas were quickly overwhelmed with the size of the site. Not what you would expect as it wasn’t particularly cheap to camp here. 10am check out and 2pm check in is ridiculous for tents. It’s not as if they’re cleaning a room for the next booking.
