Glamping at the Y

Good news for those who like their camping to be wood rather than canvas based - the YHA has added camping pods to a second UK site.
It started with camping pods at Grinton Lodge Youth Hostel in the Yorkshire Dales, and has now rolled the pods out to include Hawkshead Youth Hostel in Cumbria. You can pick from a standard camping pod sleeping two adults and one child, or a family camping pod which can sleep two adults and up to three children, or up to four adults. They'll be available from 1 July and have a covered seating and cooking area. You don't have to be a YHA member - or young - to stay.
Both Grinton Lodge and the new pods at Hawkshead are available to book at Pitchup.com, as well as standard tent pitches at both sites. Feeling too lazy to cook? There are meals available all day at both. Just don't stuff yourself too full to be unable to mountain bike around Grizedale Forest, swing at Go Ape! or take a hike on the southern fells.
