Howe is an adults-only site on a farm a few minutes’ walk from the village of Evie, up in the north of the Orkney Islands’ main island. It’s a very short stroll from this peaceful site to the sea at Aikerness Bay, and there are sea views from the pitches to inspire you to take that walk. Also close by are beaches, an RSPB nature reserve, trout fishing lochs and plenty of places to go for a walk. A post office, shop and bakery (with pizza takeaways available at weekends) are in the nearby village, which also has a bus stop for services to Kirkwall. This is a free-range poultry farm so you’ll be sharing the place with a flock of birds that wander around at will (and are rather fond of greeting the day with early-morning crows and calls). Amenities on site (for the human guests only) include private toilet and shower facilities and a cold-water washing-up and food prep area. Please note this is a no-smoking site.
