  • Chichester, Hayling Island and Goodwood 25 minutes’ drive
  • Outdoor bath and secure shed for bikes; pub and shop 20 minutes’ walk
Time for a luxury break in the South Downs National Park? Book in at Drews Farm, 25 minutes’ drive from Chichester, where your stay will be in stylish shepherd’s huts in their own wildflower meadow with views of sheep grazing in neighbouring fields. The bespoke wooden shepherd’s huts have every modern convenience, offered hand-in-hand with sustainable energy – they’re insulated with sheep’s wool so are really toasty in winter. Each ensuite has hot and cold running water, showers, heated towel rails, flushing toilets plumbed to mains drainage… and that’s just the start. Kitchens are equipped with all the essentials for meal-making, and there’s a woodburning stove, seating area with rural views and a comfortable king-size bed in each of the huts. Outside is a copper bath for bathing under the stars. Bring your own bikes and keep them in the secure shed for forays into the national park, while there are walks in adjacent woodland straight from the pitches. Within 20 minutes’ stroll are a couple of pubs, a café and convenience store too. As the huts are set on a family farm you’ll see plenty of farm life going on all year around, from lambing in spring to feeding the animals and harvesting crops. Sophie, Sam and Sausage the sheep are in charge in the field by the huts; reared from orphans in the farmhouse, they like nothing more than a good scratch and a handful of feed from their guests.
