  • Smart wooden glamping pods in the East Yorkshire countryside
  • Close to the Yorkshire Wolds and 20 minutes' drive from Bridlington
  • Kitchenette, barbecue and ensuite bathroom for each pod; dogs welcome
With the East Yorkshire countryside all around and the coast close by too, Little Kelk Glamping is in a splendid spot for a getaway that’s all about the open air by day and a cosy place to retreat at night. Stays here are in smart, studio-style wooden glamping pods suitable for couples, small families or groups of friends – and dogs are welcome to join you too for your rural wanders, perhaps hitting the King Charles III England Coast Path (20 minutes’ drive) or the trails of the Yorkshire Wolds (15 minutes). This location just outside the village of Little Kelk is about 20 minutes from Bridlington and 15 minutes from Driffield (your nearest main hub for shops as well as being on the edge of the Wolds). So there’s lots of roaming to be done by day – and once you’re done with all that, you’ll be coming back to a cosy, well-designed pod that’s got a double bed and sofa bed as well as an ensuite bathroom and a living space where you can flop out and watch TV. Outside, each pod has its own private outdoor area with a barbecue for alfresco meals; inside there’s a kitchenette (with fridge, microwave, kettle and toaster) for quicker eats and cooking on less clement days. Either way, you can eat out on the patio if the weather’s looking good, or gather around the dining table inside.

Camping pod (hot tub, no pets)

Liked: A beautiful well-kept little site, with extremely welcoming hosts! Kids enjoyed feeding the chicks, playing pool in the games room and having a kick about on the large open space in front of the wigwams. Several lovely walks directly from site, with a number of beaches only a short drive away. Wonderful hot tub and all the firewood you could need for a relaxing evening. Will be returning for another visit!

Covey camping pod (pet friendly, hot tub)

Liked: Beautiful small site, extremely tidy, peaceful and felt extremely safe and secure with the electric gates. The pod itself was immaculately clean and really well equipped. Friendly hosts who have thought of everything. The fire pit, grill and outside furniture were an added bonus. Great communication pre-arrival.

Disliked: Literally cannot think of anything.

Local attractions

Doubtless you’ll be wanting to spend some time at an East Yorkshire coastal resort; Bridlington (20 minutes’ drive) has two sandy beaches, funfairs, lots of amusement arcades and chip shops. If you should hit a rainy day, simply divert to Bridlington Leisure Centre (25 minutes), where you can swim laps and scale the climbing wall, or make a day of it at The Deep aquarium in Hull (40 minutes). When the weather is playing nicely, Flamborough Head is the dramatic, clifftop spot for bracing walks overlooking the North Sea, or you can have a mosey along to see puffins and gannets nesting in their thousands on the chalk cliffs at RSPB Bempton Cliffs. If it’s too blustery by the sea, retreat inland to Danes Dyke Nature Reserve (all half an hour) for sheltered strolls along the woodland ravine. With the kids? See something of the region’s scenery with a steam-train chug along the heritage Yorkshire Wolds Railway, or stop by Sledmere House and Gardens (both 20 minutes) to visit the majestic Shire horses at the Rare Breed Conservation Farm Park.
